The pizza here is actually not too bad. One problem that I do have is that the sizes are small. The large looks like a medium, and the medium looks like a small, etc. The second issue I have with the food itself is the topping portions are strangely big, which can be a good and bad thing. For example, huge pieces of bacon are more than welcomed in my opinion. Large hunks of green pepper on the other hand, not so much. I worked in many different kinds of kitchens, from sports bars to higher class restaurants and everything in between, and I know from experience that massive portions like that means only one of two things. That either they don't know how to prepare food properly (which I'm going to doubt for now, out of pity's sake), or just plain laziness (which is definately the culprit). Unfortunately, pizza itself doesn't define a good pizza joint. The reason I'm giving a 2 instead of a (albeit gracious) 3 or 4, is because of the service. The first time I ever called, I just wanted to know if slices were available to buy to eat inside the restaurant. The guy working answered and immediately, without even letting me take a single breath, put me on hold. I don't mind being put on hold, but the way he spoke to me so quickly... I can't explain it. I just felt disrespected. Also, it always seems as if they are never listening to what I have to say or ask UNLESS it's my order. Out of the three or four times that I've called now, I've had to explain in detail what exactly it is I'm trying to ask. The best way I can put this would be to ask them if item A would be a better deal than item B, only for them to say "sorry we have no deals currently" when that wasn't what I was asking. It just seems like they don't listen to what I'm asking, or atleast the person that I've spoken to hasn't.
I mean, what can you expect from a typical neighborhood pizza place? I'm not all that picky about this place, the food especially gets a passing grade from me (even though the topping portions are hilariously big). I just really, REALLY cannot stand the way they treat me on the phone e-v-e-r-y-t-i-m-e that I call them. If it wasn't for those bacon chunks being half the size of my slice, I'd order from (god...
Read moreI first enjoyed Tom's House of Pizza place back in the 90's (Macleod Tr pizza lunch buffet) when I first moved to Calgary and was happy when they opened a location closer to where I live in the deep south by Somerset. It is priced reasonably and I really like their crust, sauce and ingredients they use. The crust is thin and crispy and not too doughy and the weird part is the cheese is cooked under the meat and veggies so be careful when you eat it so they don't fall off the pie. It is an excellent pizza and still tastes the same as it did way back when I first tried it. Ask for a side of parm cheese and flaked hot pepper to add on top it enhances the pizza. I usually prefer to make my own homemade pizza as I hate the heavily advertised options available (pizza hut, little ceasar, pizza 73,boston pizza) but this place is quick and I still love their wheel. It doesn't take long to get a pizza here and if you eat in you fill up your own pop. Be sure to tip these guys they deserve it for the excellent service all...
Read moreTurn off your door dash if youâre closed. It took over 10 minutes for my order to be cancelled after it was received by the restaurant. I would love to change my review to be about the food quality if I get to try the pizza Unfortunately my order was refused after itâs was too late to order food from another [non fast food] place. It might be a while until I use door dash (what?) to order food again, the site has old ordering forms and obviously the communication between the vendors and door dash is not very good. The price/free delivery doesnât make up for the inconvenience or using an unrecognized payment portal site requesting CC info.
I havenât received my refund on my card from the site, but this happened within 20 minutes of now. The original charge has shown up, though. Be wary if you have previous privacy issues or have an...
