In CB for a month and a bit and have made the delicious decision to head over to the Kkuuugaq Cafe for dinner or lunch once a week to break up the monotony of cooking for myself. One night I ordered the Bison Burger with roasted red pepper relish. Now that was delicious! The burger cooked very well, the red pepper relish was the perfect sweet complement to the hearty burger, and it was topped with melted goat cheese. Absolute deliciousness! On Friday I read about their daily lunch special and had to head over. The lunch special was a trout taco with pickled onions, mango slaw and cilantro crema with a bowl of arctic char chowder. Two extremely well thought out and expertly created dishes. I enjoyed every single bite of the tacos - the trout was grilled perfectly and combined with the rest of the ingredients which made for a fresh and delicious meal. The char chowder was a hearty broth with bite sized chunks of char mixed in with the vegetables. Another win! I ended up taking leftover chowder home as I devoured the tacos and wasn't able to finish it. Thank you Kuugaq Cafe for your delicious northern service with quality ingredients!

This cafe is attached to the Ublu Inn. The atmosphere is cozy and you can directly see the kitchen, which brings more warmth to the room. I enjoyed the variety of food options written on the blackboard. From what I understand, they will try to rotate the menu for different cuisine once in a while to keep things fresh. The price is also fair given that food up north is more expensive. I couldn't decide which burger to order and the staff suggested the candied bacon burger. The burger is caramelized perfectly. The sweetness is on point but not overpowering. The bacon is not overly dry. Ample amount of fries were served. When I pay the bill, they accept cash and credit card by tapping.

Its expensive & takes a long time when management isn’t around. The staff were just learning how to make the lattes when I was here, it should be discounted if they aren’t sure how to use it. There are usually 5 staff members (2 cook/baker & 3 servers/clean up crew),& it still takes a while to get your food & drink. The staff need to communicate better and a flow needs to be arranged for better service. There should be no reason that we show up half an hour before lunch time & still manage to have a late lunch. But it is a nice break from cooking & the owner seems nice. Feel bad for him, his staff are unorganized.
