The Porch at Friar’s Bay Inn and Cottages — Restaurant in Campobello Island

My family and I stopped for dinner here and our server was very sweet and genuinely attentive. Unfortunately, the experience was completely overshadowed by what we witnessed in the kitchen, which is visible from the dining area. While waiting for our food, we saw the cook eating directly from the containers used to prepare meals (cheese, fries, etc.), licking her fingers, and then continuing to handle and prepare dishes without washing her hands. This was extremely unsanitary, unprofessional, and a serious health hazard. We let our server know, and she seemed genuinely sorry this happened, but at that point we decided to leave. We ended up going to Pier Waterfront instead, much better food, a great selection, comparable prices, and an overall atmosphere that...

Wonderful little restaurant! We stayed at the Friar’s Bay Inn and this was such a convenience! The owners are wonderful cooks and very nice! The only thing I have to comment is, again just like the Pier, they have to train their waitress to come around and check back once we received our food. I wanted another drink but could never get her attention and when I finally did it seemed like she forgot to ever put in that drink order for the rest of our time eating. She was the only one there so I get she had a million other tasks but maybe go put in my drink order before bussing all the tables? It would just make sense to prioritize your customers first. Aside from that it’s definitely one of the better restaurants...

Went in and stood at the counter where take-out orders are done. Waited. A guy asked if I was needing a table and I said no, I'd like to order something to take out. He went back to doing other things. A woman came from out of the kitchen, looked at me and then got busy doing something at the bar. I waited. Then I left. Seems like they were understaffed and the lunch crowd was overwhelming them. So I came back later, just an hour before their stated closing time, and that guy said they were now closed for the day. I wonder what will happen if I show up in the morning. Will they ignore me and tell me they are closed? Or will I get to buy a smoothie for...
