The Smokin Caboose Barbeque — Restaurant in Central Elgin

We drove down to St.Thomas from London on a Wednesday the moment I caught wind of this place! I am always researching food, and hidden gems, and this place came out of nowhere with nonstop stellar reviews! Plus authentic smoked bbq, is probably my favorite cuisine.. and I've had them all here. (Shmokeys also rocks). Anyways, this place lived up to the hype and more! Great staff, great service, everything a 10! Food: The brisket sandwich was so flavourful and perfect, the picture i took does Not do it justice! I was squishing it in a moving vehicle after dark, but I swear it's awesome! Lol The poutine was a tie for my favorite thing there! It was THE most legitimate Canadian poutine I've had since living in Ottawa and visiting Quebec! We also tried the chicken weekly special which was Greek style, with feta, veggies and tatziki etc. Delicious and different, but also yummy and refreshing! Finally, I added the potato salad, and it was amazingly fresh, crisp, and suttle. I hate over-powering potato salad, where it just tastes like mustard or onions, (a cop out). This was clearly made that day, like everything we ate. And used herbs and quality for flavor :)

You gotta try this place guys! It's so authentic, and you can tell the owner (Irish i think his shirt said, lol) puts his heart and soul into it! My kind of...

Fantastic addition to the growing food scene in St. Thomas! Finally decided to check out the Smokin’ Caboose... As we were driving up all 4 cars ahead of us turned in too!! I knew we were in for a treat! This place was hopping!! The monster smoker sits outside the front of the restaurant for everyone to gaze in wonder at. They’ve got ordering, payment and delivering your order to your car down to a science. The line was huge but moved quickly, everyone is excited to be there! Staff is friendly, informative and patient for us first timers. We ordered the brisket poutine, obviously... Brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich. Super value for your money! The poutine was exactly what a gourmet poutine should be!... crispy skin-on fresh fries, tasty gravy, fresh cheese curds and smoky delicious brisket!! Drool... The brisket and pulled pork buns were very good! I really enjoyed their choice of bun. They don’t fool around with unnecessary toppings, it’s a proper smokehouse focusing on the meat! I did really enjoy the pickle on the pork bun though 😉 Oh!....and they’re coleslaw is worth a huge mention. Most coleslaws at restaurants are disgusting... This is the only place that knows how to make a perfect slaw! Creamy, vinegary sweet perfection...tasted sooo good on the sandwich!! Keep up the...

I was fortunate enough to spend some time at the MapleLeaf Motel which is where The Smokin Caboose BarBQ Restaurant is located. As you can see by the photos this is some outstanding wood fire smoked BarBQ. The huge fire wood stove is just outside the restaurant. You can smell BarBQ right into St Thomas as the Smokin Caboose is located just outside St Thomas on 43743 Talbot Rd, St Thomas Ontario, N5P3S7. The menu is quite outstanding and pulled pork and chicken is a specialty. The prices are comparable to any other BarBQ place however, your not going to get that out door flame kissed wood smoked taste only the Smokin Caboose can provide. They don't do ribfests but they do catering and it's something your guests will never forget. I see the parking lot fill up and empty. 20 minutes later is full again. Peeps come from all over St Thomas and surrounding regions just to get a taste of that Smokin Caboose. I've even seen the staff run the orders out to the cars. There are picnic tables with umbrellas so you can enjoy that great Smokin Caboose BarBQ flavor in the fresh outdoors. Very clean..very professional. You can't go wrong with these tasty treats.
