Friend and I went there because the food is usually excellent. We wanted to have a pizza to go instead of waiting in lines for a long time. You line up outside to get in, and then you line up inside to get to the service counters. There is only one for food and beverages and another for just beverages. The lines have always been VERY long, we were filthy and exhausted from work, so we wanted pizza and beer to go. We phoned ahead but were told ‘no’ because it’s a long weekend? That’s the very reason we didn’t want to stay! We were almost there anyway, and there are little other food options in the area, so we went because they said ‘there are lots of tables open and space’. Once there, the line outside was at least 15 deep and inside was double that. The lines are VERY slow. The pizza we ordered was my typical one of speck ham and arugula (yummy) but when we got the pizza we saw the speck (they changed it to serrano jamon I believe) was a crumble instead of the thin, delicious slices that buckle up when cooked, adding to the delicious factor. I was disappointed but it was still good, just not great. Prices are high here as a pizza (probably medium size elsewhere) runs in the mid 20s - but the food is usually really good. Just disappointed with the lack of options for those who do not want to wait for a long time in lines. It would be great to see this changed as there are a ton of service staff working, but only one line option for food? And, while lovely, it’s so slow because each person chats for a while while deciding on beer choices and flights. Hoping they open both tills for food and maybe have all the beer only orders in the outside building? It would make going there...
Read moreI want to start by saying the food and drink is 5 out of 5. The lower rating of my review is: They have a wood burning pit in their outdoor seating area and all it does is smoke so there's no fire it's just smoke. They throw wood on it to smoke starting from opening even on beautiful warm sunny days. I don't want to have to go home and have a shower and do a full load of laundry and a respiratory treatment just to enjoy a pizza outside on a hot sunny day. I don't know why you would smoke your customers out who are trying to enjoy food in the beautiful sunshine on a hot warm day, especially with so many people who have asthma, allergies and other respiratory illnesses. It's the most bizarre thing I've ever seen in my life. When you're trying to order subsequent drinks and you have to stand in a line of 20 plus people who are ordering food for an entire table you just give up and say screw it and leave. There should be a separate line that's just for subsequent drink orders. Inside is filled with screaming children and is extremely hot (it must be 30° C inside) like the indoor temperature is insane but yet you can't sit outside unless you want to just inhale smoke and choke the entire time. I feel like the staff here is not great. They often are confused about what is on tap, sometimes the outdoor seating is open sometimes it's not, on a beautiful hot sunny day there's no umbrellas at the outdoor tables but you go on a cloudy day and they have the umbrellas up. Very unpredictable with no set daily schedule regarding setup and being in the know of what is on tap that day. Perhaps a daily checklist for staff when opening would be beneficial to...
Read moreI don't like leaving bad reviews for any business let alone a small business. I came here on Friday with a group of friends and we waited in line for 15 minutes before getting in to wait in another line to order our food. I told the lady taking my order that I had celiac disease and asked how the pizza was prepared. She told me that it was cooked on a separate pan so there would be no cross contamination (probably had a 1-2 minute conversation about celiac disease). I received my pizza and had 4 slices. My friend that also has celiac disease received her pizza 10-15 minutes later and the pizza looked COMPLETELY different. I realized mine wasn't gluten free so I took what was left of it and went inside to ask a server if it was gluten free and she told me it was not. I told her I had celiac disease and she offered to remake mine gluten free, I said that I didn't want any other food and just asked for a refund. I had to make myself throw up in the washroom and when I got back to the table I had a receipt of a refund for $21 (original price of pizza without the gluten free up charge and vegan cheese up charge). I had to go back inside to ask for a full refund on my order. Since Friday I have missed 2 days of work because i've been so sick. ALSO, while i was throwing up in the washroom, my friend had a terrible experience with one of the servers and she was extremely rude to her. I will never go back here and i'm extremely disappointed with how the situation...
