Le Riviera — Restaurant in Chute-aux-Outardes

Very beautiful place and a fun environment! Be wary English speaking Quebec folks as we got dirty looks and treated awful. Soon as we walked in said hello in French but switched to English amongst our group we got dirty looks from the chef, a blonde waitress, and the boss. The waitress who served us said to the boss on that shift she wished she could get rid of us quick and the boss agreed. Over hearing this our friend left a smaller tip as he was insulted rightly so. The waitress after him and his fiancé got up asked us why on a $60 bill did they only get $2. Do to the blunt hatred of English folks I will not recommend to anyone nor be sharing this with anyone that comes...

J'étais avec le groupe "d'anglophones" l'autre jour. Je ne crois pas que la serveuse était nerveuse. Je suis arrivé avant le reste du groupe et j'ai rentrée avec ma soeur. Nous sommes tous les deux natifs de Sept-Îles et nous avons adressé la serveuse en francais pour dire qu'on avait une réservation dans mon nom. Elle était froide envers nous du départ. On était pas mal tous bilingue (avec des accents variables), et la fille qui était le plus anglais (aussi celle qui a écrit l'autre commentaire) as fait de son mieux de commander en français. Elle se débrouille bien & mets de l'effort.

La serveuse nous a donné un service rapide, mais très sec et zéro chaleureux. J'avais l'impression de lui déranger; d'être trop dans le restaurant (qui était quasi vide). En fait, je n'ai pas eu de sourire franche de sa part avant qu'elle a vu mon tip de 18% (j'ai donné trop de tip - elle ne le méritait pas). C'est juste à ce moment que je la trouvais plus gentille avec moi.

Mais, il y avait quand même une madame avec les cheveux blonde qui était très gentille avec nous. Elle nous a montré votre ascenseur à bière!

Je recommande tout même que les gens visitent ce restaurant - juste à faire attention dû à notre expérience. With the exception to fellow English-patrons: we do suspect that our waitress was cold towards us because she overheard us speaking English to one another - this may have been a case of prejudice.

Et au proprio: je ferais mon enquête à votre place. Peut-être que c'était juste une mauvaise journée, mais ça ne donne pas une bonne réputation à votre...

Interesting spot. Cool layout with an industrial country feeling. Love the creativity....stools are crafted like wooden barrels, lights recycled bottles. Drink, food and coffee is available.
