Seaside Restaurant — Restaurant in Conception Bay South

Yesterday, my family and I ordered from Seaside to celebrate my mother's birthday. Normally the food and service are both great at this resturant.

When we recieved the food yesterday, we immediately noticed a sour, chemical-like smell coming from the meals. Thinking not much of it, we all took a bite of our food and the dressing was absolutely rancid. All five of our meals were ruined by the foul dressing and we had to throw the majority of the food out.

Out of concern, my mother called the resturant to ensure that the dressing hadn't gone bad or hadn't been contaminated by any cleaning chemicals. Not only were we hoping to recieve the quality of food we had paid for but we were all concerned for the health and safety of others who ordered from the resturant last night.

On this occasion, the staff who answered my mother's phone call were very polite and understanding. They told her that the manager would call back the next day and resolve the issue. Today we recieved a very abrupt and disrespectful phone call from the resturant. We were told that the foul, sour taste of the food was due to the savory in the dressing. However, my family and I still do not believe this to be true as all of us are feeling unwell today. There was no attempt made by the resturant to help correct my mother's spoiled birthday supper.

I have been a long time fan of Seaside and my family has bought food from this location for over twenty years now. However, after last nights experience, I have no intentions of returning to the resturant and I will gladly get my take out...

This is a small town, "greasy spoon" style of restaurant. However, don't judge it by the genre alone. The food is excellent!

The batter is thin and crispy so there's no trapped grease beneath the batter. The fish was fresh and cooked to the perfect flake point. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The fries were tasty and not the least bit greasy. Even the gravy was the perfect thickness and taste to blend with the food.

The portions are ENORMOUS! Make sure you are very hungry, or plan on sharing your meal with a friend. The prices are very reasonable as well, even if the portions had been more typical.

September 2024 update: Since the new ownership we have been back a few times. Before the new owners added Chinese food to the menu, it was the same great food. Shortly after they added Chinese, the food was not as good. I stopped going. I heard they removed Chinese food from the menu and in hopes for a "recovery", we went back. Sadly, the food was still very different and certainly not as good. Personally, even though a nice place with great employees, I will not be going back. I will miss...
