This beautiful tea room in the heart of Deseronto is a wonderful place to dine. My partner and I enjoyed a Scottish blend of orange peako tea with an egg salad sandwich with a gluten free chocolate truffle cake for dessert. With my gluten intolerance I felt very seen and cared for when I saw that they had gluten free options and other alternatives for people with dietary restrictions. The tea was wonderful and reminded me of the tea I drank on my prior trip to Scotland. The decision of what tea to get was a hard one for me as there was so many options and variety of tea. When I asked the friendly and caring waitress what options of tea they had she happily listed off the long list and I was faced with a difficult decision of what I would treat myself to. As for the egg salad sandwich it was delicious, the bread was extremely fresh and soft. The chocolate truffle cake was the cherry on top of our vist. It was so rich and creamy, the cake was topped with whipped cream that was definitely made from scratch, it was so creamy and the perfect consistency but still had that home made taste. And finally the decorations were astonishing… all the paintings of the beautiful Queen of England and all of the English memorabilia made me feel like I was downtown London. The atmosphere of this tea room brought me back to the tearooms I visited on my trip to England. I 10/10 recommend this beautiful family run tea room as both the food and the decorations were amazing. I can’t wait to go back and visit when the new antique room will be next to the tea room. this place deserves more then 5 stars and i can’t...
Read moreWent based on reviews. This was far less than a 4.8 experience. I've gone to high teas elsewhere and this was the worst one yet. For 28/per person, for high tea the tea isn't even loose leaf rather common brands at a grocery store in tea bags. The pictures show buns but we didn't have any. We received maybe max two sandwiches (Crist removed) that consisted of three pieces of cucumber cream cheese, three small pieces of ham type nibbles, and two thin slices of egg salad pastry, three cherry tomatoes, four thinly sliced pieces of cucumber, three small half pieces of cantaloupe, four raspberries, a tablespoon and a half of chutney. The scone was tasty, however, more like cake. The Devon cream was real whip cream. Not authentic Devon cream based on experience. You could see more of plate then food. The upholstery/ material of the chairs is in dire need of shampooing. To be honest would like my money back. It is cheaper to get a sandwich and salad then order the scone. You'll receive way more food for a better price. Not impressed. Felt ripped off. Wish I had of...
Read moreThe chocolate cake is amazing. I almost didn’t want to order it because it’s gluten free and I thought that would make it less enjoyable but I couldn’t even tell. It was delicious! The chai tea was spectacular also. My mum had the scone with cream and preserve which was very delicious as well. My dad got a beer so he was happy! The service was good. The only problem we had was when we first arrived 5 minutes early for our reservation they had us wait 35 minutes to be seated. It was not a good first impression for me but my mum assured me it was worth the wait, and it totally was!! I didn’t want to knock stars off for the bad experience being seated because I think it was a one-off because of a large group taking up all the tables. Regardless they should have at least let us know it would be a while. It felt like forever waiting in the antique shop next door, not knowing how much longer. Anyway overall this place is excellent and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a nice tea and dessert in a very well decorated interesting tea...
