Mrs. H's Fish & Chips — Restaurant in District Municipality of Muskoka

I am kind of disappointed in this place. My parents brought me here for my birthday. We ordered two half orders and one full order, for a total of roughly $60 of food. The lady at the counter asked me if I wanted to tip them to "help them out". I said sure and added a few bucks to the order. We received the order after 30 minutes of waiting, which was a little longer than we would usually wait, but it was fine. We got the food and the pieces of fish were quite small, and the fries were undercooked and soggy. There were 2 ketchup packets and 3 - 1/2 ounce containers of tartar sauce that came with the food. I was grateful for the food and really enjoyed the fish. We love tartar sauce and ran out of it pretty quickly as you barely get any.

When I went to go ask for another two tartar sauces, I was met with a surcharge of $1.... I said that I didn't want to order anything that I just wanted one or two tartar packets. Once again she corrected me and asked for money.... So you can't even give me a free one for two 1/2 ounce containers of tartar, after you forwardly, almost rudely demand for tips, after $60+ of business???. I'm sorry, but we won't support this type of establishment with their rude belligerent tactics. It makes me want to call up my bank and charge back the money from the credit card. They have 100% lost our support. Talk about ruining a nice evening out for my birthday, after numerous attempts of us trying to make light out of crumby situations.

Our family of 8 stopped in for lunch around 1ish on a Saturday. Place was full. Tables and parking. When we were waiting to order the group in front was told 25 mins. Then we ordered, 1 order for all of us. The lady never told us how long ours would be. Just handed the #slip and said well I call ya. 24 mins later we got our order. Pretty good with their time guess. Food was good mostly. The haddock fish breaded was really nice. They nailed that. My fathers banquet burger 🍔 was apparently great. The fries were meh. Kinda weird taste and texture. The poutine 😥 was not good. The gravy tasted nasty. The cheese was weird. The fries were I don't know. Not good. Separately, the people who readied our food gave us 3 tiny packets of tartar, 4 fish. 6 cutlery sets. And an extra burger 🍔. Which was not the banquet burger my dad ordered. Because that was found in the bag with some fries not taken yet. So they put someone's burger in our bag. The order before us realizes he's short a burger. His wife's. So he and my dad sitting across from each other realized what happened. His wife's burger is half done. How do you think the ladies at the window and inside handled it. Well.... when I went up to ask about more tartar sauce, they were blaming my father! This is our second time trying Mrs H, the first time we left without eating, as it smelled like septic/sewage. This time it smelled fine.

Sat 5:53pm... there was one person ordering, and one other family in front of us. Ordered Fish & Chips 3 pce (haddock 10 oz) $18.95 and 1 pce haddock dinner $10.75 Our meal was finally ready 44 min later!! Sign at tables says you can only stay for 45 min. I would hate to see the wait if they were busy! Our fries were very cold (the family beside us said the same) the fish was heavy on batter and slightly undercooked, a but mushy in the middle. The one piece has a nice size of fish, but the 3 pces was one nice size and two much smaller pieces,which would be more like a second piece, most certain it was not 10 oz Each meal came with a bag of condiments... way too many, a lot of money could be saved by giving fewer, although the 2 wipes were appreciated. I do not understand why so many restaurants like this one package in cardboard type containers and then they throw everything in the garbage.. get some green bins in there.
