Muskoka on the Rock is an absolute gem! We recently visited this charming steakhouse with our large party of 20, which included 8 lively kids, and I can confidently say it was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time.
First and foremost, the restaurant is incredibly family-friendly. They offer a well-thought-out kid's menu that kept our little ones happy and satisfied. Despite the noise and energy from our group, the staff remained nothing but polite and accommodating. They even surprised the kids with free ice cream at the end of our meal, which was a delightful touch!
Accessibility is clearly a priority here, with a ramp making it easy for all guests to enter and enjoy the space. Inside, the restaurant boasts a spacious and open layout, which is perfect for large groups like ours. The interior has an old rustic charm that feels wonderfully nostalgic yet incredibly clean and well-maintained. It’s the kind of place that immediately feels like home.
The service was impeccable from start to finish. The family that runs the business treated us with such warmth and care, making us feel like part of their extended family. Every need we had was met with a smile, and they handled our large group with grace and efficiency.
The outdoor patio is another highlight, especially during the weekends when a live band sets the perfect backdrop for a relaxing evening. The combination of great food, music, and a beautiful setting makes this place a fantastic getaway spot. Its proximity to Deerhurst Resort only adds to its appeal, making it an inescapable destination for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy a great meal.
Muskoka on the Rock is a relatively new addition to the area, but it has quickly become a must-visit. Whether you're looking for a place to enjoy a family dinner, catch some live music, or simply escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, this restaurant has it all. We’ll definitely be returning, and I highly recommend it to anyone...
Read moreCozy place to eat very near where we stayed. Food was well seasoned, and hot. We got hamburgers: swiss, muskoka and peppercorn, all good and around $16-$18 each. You can pick which toppings you'd like (tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, onions, hot peppers). Add ketchup, mustard or relish yourself. We also ordered fried fish, the sea salt and malt crusted pickerel special ($30, I think) which comes with a side of steamed veggies and a potato of choice (french fries, baked, mashed, etc) and the fish and chips ($20, $7.50 for a second piece of fish). Fish size was generous. I'd say the fish and chips are more worth the deal than the special. Add a salad for around 5$ and you get a vegetable and still would be under the price for the special. The caesar salad was generous on the dressing. I'd have preferred to add my own, as it was slightly much for me. Server knew some local beers to recommend. They were friendly, attentive, and fast. They know the menu well. We finished our meals within an hour, due to fairly quick service. If you want to guarantee a spot, make a reservation. Space is decorated with country-style décor. Tables are a little closer together than I would wish for. The menu had some vegetarian options, but not many vegetable-centric options aside...
Read moreWhere to start … Was recommended this restaurant by a local resident. We arrived, ordered drinks then dinner. When dinner arrived, my steak was cooked well done when I ordered medium, received mashed when I ordered baked. My wife ordered a burger and was not even close to being cooked. My sons steak was cooked medium (or less) when he ordered medium well. After letting our server know, she took all plates away, including utensils. Ten minutes or so later, our dinners arrived again, without utensils, which we had to ask for. My steak came back as medium which was good, but I received mashed again instead of baked. My sons steak came back well done, he wanted medium well. My wife’s burger came back cooked, actually over cooked. We should have sent these back again, but didn’t. I did ask about the baked potato and did receive on a single plate ten minutes later. Manager/owner did come by and apologize, but we were offered no compensation, coffee, desert or anything for the major mistakes. We paid our bill, left a 12% tip which I thought was generous. The most egregious thing was as we were leaving, our server gave me a dirty look. I cannot overemphasize, do not waste your money...
