Read moreWow! I just happened to notice this place on Google Maps when I was in Cheneville to go shopping. This is a tiny place with just a few tables and appears to be run by a young couple. You can eat in, get hot food to go or buy vacuum packed food to cook at home. The pulled pork sandwich I had was fantastic. The beans were a sweet and spicy sugary treat. Some of the best I have had. We purchased a sampler platter of pretty much everything they sell to take home. $30 a person. We initially thought the portions were laughably small but it was a filling dinner for two. I'm not exaggerating when I say the creamed corn was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Indescribably delicous! The corn and the beans are worth a return visit themselves. The pork, brisket, ribs, all of the meat was fantastic. Very authentic. The only thing we bought that wasn't 5/5 stars was the macaroni and cheese, which was good, just not fantastic. I'm so thrilled to find a world class bbq place in middle-of-nowhere Quebec. I'm looking forward to coming...

If someone told you to drive almost two hours northeast of Ottawa along a windy road through dense forests to eat amazing BBQ served by a couple from France in a Quebec village you have never heard of, you could be forgiven for thinking it was a prank.
But that is exactly what you will find at Carbo BBQ in Duhamel, Quebec.
We arrived to find that many others had heard about it as well, and we had to wait in line, but not for too long. Don't be put off by the brass skull door handle (just kidding!) It works with the overall vibe of dark colours and Edison lights.
Weather permitting, be sure to snag one of the six picnic tables out back on the banks of a small river.
We had and recommend the pulled pork, poutine and Mac and cheese. They also have brisket and ribs, as well as a plethora of freezer friendly items.
Highly recommended. Perfect to couple with a trip to Montebello or the waterfalls...
