Pub Royal Bar — Restaurant in Eeyou Istchee James Bay

There are not too many unique restaurant options in Chibougamau but it was nice to find this gem. I went there on a Thursday evening and it was busy. Looked like the local hangout for the younger crowd So it was a bit noisy but had an energetic vibe. The service was a bit slow but staff shortages seemed a common theme in the town. But the waitresses were still positive and attentive. I was very impressed with the drink and food options - especially for a small town. And the prices were decent. I order beef tartare. The presentation was very appealing - if you are ok with raw egg yolk on raw beef. I asked for more bread and it was no problem. The Cesar salad was delicious. My friends and I are in town on a snowmobile trip and decided to check this place out for supper. We had an excellent dinner and great service. We asked the fellow who was our waiter if he could call us a taxi when we were ready to go. He said there were no taxis in town but he’d be happy to give us a ride back to our hotel. Turns out he was the owner of the restaurant. What a great gesture on top of a great dining experience. Highly recommend...
