After a full day of cottage chores (including arguing with a rake and losing a battle with a stubborn dock ladder), we decided to treat ourselves to a hot meal somewhere not cooked on a barbecue or swarmed by mosquitoes. We stumbled upon Tincap Restaurant just outside of Brockville and figured we'd give the small family-run spot a try, and wow, we’re glad we did!
Right from the get-go, we were welcomed by the owner, who was as down-to-earth as your favorite flannel shirt and made us feel right at home. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, and didn't even judge us for ordering the same thing, because hot turkey dinner was the special and we were craving something that tasted like a hug from grandma.
For just $20, we got the full comfort food experience: soup or salad, drink, AND dessert (rice pudding, aka the unsung hero of old-school sweets). Portion sizes were no joke, we left with enough leftovers to feed us through another round of dock maintenance. The décor and atmosphere had that nostalgic “grandma’s kitchen meets hometown diner” feel that made us smile the whole time.
If you’re looking for big portions, friendly people, great prices, and that warm fuzzy feeling only a true family restaurant can give Tincap’s your spot. Highly recommended. Just bring your appetite and maybe...
Read moreI don't live in Brockville but every time I am down I try to go here for breakfast. I was very dissappointed I ordered pancakes and another meal. They brought what I thought was syrup for the pancakes. It was disgusting. I asked the waitress if the restaurant had real maple syrup. Most restaurants carry both but charge for the real stuff. The waitress could have just said no but decided to tell me that all restaurants have table syrup. Its too expensive for real syrup. Ok fine but table syrup is ridiculously cheap as it is but "Tincap" waters theirs down alot. I would rather had less portions than watered down table syrup. One of the other patrons brought his own and offered it to me. That was so nice of him i paid for his breakfast. Its pretty sad your patrons are bringing their own condiments. Its also sad when waitresses have commentary about it as well. Last time...
Read moreWe are here on vacation and the lady at our hotel highly recommended we go here! We really were craving a true mom and pop type place as we were sick of the typical chain eatery. Well we were truly blown away! They had an awesome selection. My husband had the burger which tasted homemade !! As for the kids they gobbled up the pasta ! I tried the Greek plate and it was wonderful!!! Best part ? They used actual real feta. I assume the owner is possibly from Greece judging by the art work in the place. And the fact my plate tasted authentic, not frozen re generated!! Actually no pardon me, the best part? Our bill was under $30. For a family of 4!!!! That also included my husband who ordered extra food when he was done because it was THAT GOOD! Thanks again Cheers! -very happy customers from...
