I honestly was very disappointed. After being in Fredericton for the day my Fiance, myself, and our 2 kids were looking for a family restaurant to have dinner. Not really knowing the area, we hit google to read some reviews on local places. We came across this place and after reading the reviews, decided it was exactly what we were looking for. I will say the decor was awesome, and my kids loved the old school jukeboxes at the tables, but the food. The food was just not good, and the price was terrifying. My fiance had a Club sandwich which looked like it had been thrown together, and a handful of fries that wouldn't feed a small child.Along with a gravy that was so lumpy we couldn't even look at it let alone eat it. I had the Lobster Roll, which was 1 lobster full claw of meat under neath what I can only assume was frozen lobster full of celery. My daughter had an omelet that came well after everyone else at the table had been eating their food, she loved it but couldn't finish because she felt left out and embarrassed to still be eating. My youngest had bacon and fries, he's 3 so he loves anything lol. All together it cost us well over 70 dollars for this meal. Unfortunately we will not be back to try again, once was more then...
Read moreFirst off I ordered two simple things off the menu, a burger and a poutine, and for the first time ever received completely BOTCHED versions of both. And that was after being stared down by a racist couple at the table next to us. Received poutine with shredded cheese and cold cheese curds with watery, bland gravy (seriously the lightest gravy I’ve ever seen) and a dry, bland and TINY burger with “the works” which consisted of a dollop of ketchup and relish and a teaspoon of diced onions. Then the waitress was either racist herself or needed a smoke break because she was talking to us like we snuck on Earth and looked unintelligent. This all made for an extremely unpleasant atmosphere which had us feeling completely unwelcome by both the staff and other customers. I’ve never felt more on display in my life, the older crowd was all staring at us like they just found out black people are free… Then I saw the cooks in the back with no gloves, wiping their hands on their shirts without a care in the world! Apparently the breakfast food is better but I won’t ever be back in that place...
Read moreMy family has been frequenting The Cabin since the 60s when my parents were in high school. It's exactly the kind of old school little diner that one wants for a "home-cooked" meal or a hangover breakfast. While I haven't had it, I've heard nothing but great things about their bread pudding. I tend to go for the slightly greasy breakfast. The food isn't high end, but it's filling and made right on the spot. One can even watch the cook do things on the grill if he sits at the counter. The decor is 50s/60s style with records on the walls.
By far my favourite thing about the Cabin has always been that the booths along the walls have functioning jukeboxes on which you can buy a song for $0.25 that will be played throughout the restaurant. Even after the it burned down & was rebuilt, they made sure to have the jukeboxes again.
It's best to go to the Cabin outside of regular meal times because there is only parking for maybe 10-12 cars including the space out back. The biggest booth seats about 4 adults, maybe 6 university students, so it's not ideal for a big...
