I will say that my wife and I were really looking forward to this new opening after their recent renovations. The place looks great and the hostess and waitress were very nice. We were seated quickly as we had made a reservation. We knew the menu was very limited but had decided to give certain items a try. We were a bit surprised to hear that they were out of ribs, and during our meal, another table was told they were out of Saltimbocca as well. This was a planning error on their part to run out of meals on a reopening with such a limited menu. Now as for our food, the nachos were a bit of a let down. The "nachos" were actually chips - I'll assume homemade but literally seemed like Miss Vickies chips. As for the toppings, some fried onions, bacon, and different texture and tasting cheese sauce. Definitely not better than traditional fare. Our main meals were pretty good, but again, for such a small menu, they should have been amazing for such a niche restaurant. The Saltimbocca still had a toothpick in it (holding the prosciutto on?) - definitely should have informed the diner that it was in the meal still. Also, the chicken breast was very thin. I would have expected a pretty plump chicken breast but seemed to be fairly basic. The place has a lot of promise and previous reviews set the bar pretty high. Maybe there is a bit of kitchen rust to wear off after the time away. We may be back to give them another try in the...
Read moreWe went on opening night, excited for a Friday night dinner out. And for a first night after a long winter, Gulliver's exceeded my expectations. We didn't sit in the newly expanded portion but I can see how that new room will be such a good addition this summer. We were seated with more than comfortable margin between tables as per current protocol. I remembered the little lobster pockets from last summer and I started with that. Three golden satchels filled with lobster and cream cheese, delicately tied with a chive--perfect way to start the meal. For main, I ordered the French onion chicken. Three pieces of chicken baked au gratin. For a rainy and cold May evening, it was perfect. I sopped it up with slices of baguette. We didn't order any dessert this time round as we were stuffed and there'll be another opportunity next time round. I'm happy that Gulliver's World Cafe has reopened, it expands our dining options in the Village of Gagetown. I can't wait to hit the new patio soon on...
Read moreDrove around town and saw a sign for this place and figured we'd take a look as the pub we passed in town was packed. We weren't sure if there was actually anything here as its a long gravel driveway to get to the Cafe. Stunning views! Looks more like an old farmhouse with an expansove deck overlooking the water. One of the most picturesque places I've had meal. Food unfortunately fell well short of expectations. My wife ordered the caprese salad and it was OK just very small we felt for the price and the basil was non existent. I had the Cubano sandwich and the pork was grisly and tough - not what I'd expect from pulled pork for sure. There really wasn't much in the sandwich either, again underwhelming. I believe the couple we interacted with were the owners and they were very welcoming and friendly. Seeing the high reviews they seem to receive maybe we just caught them...
