I was a part of a group event for a family members birthday with set menu costing $75 each minimum. We had approximately 20 attendees and was given only 1 server for the entire party. Our orders where not taken until 90mins after the birthday girl arrived. When our orders where taken at the point the waiter rushed orders stating we didn't have a choice but to put our order in NOW! Our table had arrived first of the 20 guests but for some reason our orders where taken last. This resulted in an item on the set menu being unavailable by the time he came around to us. When I asked if the missing item could be replaced with another item on the menu he stated that we could not choose another item because the menu was set specifically for our reservation. If that was the case how was it possible to run out of a main course item? When a manager was asked to be brought out the manager stated that another steak, which was the missing item, was avilible to replace the one that was missing in our menus. So then why where we told we could not have a replacement item? When the food came out it was far in between each other and it came out cold or just warm. My first appetizer was not bad cold as it was almost like a slider but the other courses where not hot. My main, the salmon with rice, had undercooked rice so bad I just asked for a take home container to throw it out at home. There where multiple times in the service where people did not receive parts of thier meal and one family member notified the waiter she was missing her dessert and she was told "I'm sorry there's nothing I can do, I asked if everyone received their deserts." She was in the washroom attending her 1 year old son when they brought them out and he was notified she was not at the table yet. When the courses where done coming out the server was confused as to who ordered what and I was given the wrong receipt before finding my own right receipt amongst my family members. We where at that point all in the agreement that this was the worst service we have ever recieved for a party venue and when we went to pay the waiter had the audacity to notify everyone that because we where over 9 people we would automatically need to pay 18% in tip. I later found out that when my aunt argued about the tip percentage he agreed to let her tip less and stated that he was able to choose the tip amount NOT what he told everyone else which was that we did not have a choice. Honestly the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. My cousin had been many times in small groups and raved about the place but even she left feeling scammed. I paid $136 for this experience. I will be email the restaurant and possibly calling the Better...

We went to this restaurant as recommended by the hotel we were staying in for a milestone birthday celebration. It turned out to be a disaster evening. This restaurant has serious owner/general manager issues!! I cannot even begin to explain how terrible our experience was at this place. The poor staff look completely overwhelmed and overworked, it is very obvious that there are significant issues here and we felt sorry for the staff as it appeared they were not treated well at all. With all the need for good servers out there, I sincerely hope these staff leave this place and find other jobs. Our steak was served cold and basically thrown on the table as the staff member was so run off her feet, we asked to have it returned and were told "no this wasn't allowed", we asked for a Manager and the Manager did end up taking it off the bill as we returned it. The service was beyond slow, the music was louder than a nightclub and we asked to have it turned down a bit or move to a different table where we could hear each other and were told that it was impossible because "the music and volume were run by their restaurant in Miami and they could not adjust it". We are not the type to write negative reviews but this was completely over the top we could not help but warn other hotel guests NOT to go to this restaurant. The service was extremely slow and waiter was not attentive at all, dirty plates sat on our table for over an hour, I was going to take them to the kitchen myself at one point. To be fair, I do not believe it was the fault of the staff as the General Manager/Owner ran around ensuring her friends got drinks and food in a timely fashion which likely puts stress on the other tables and the kitchen. Very chaotic staff and not at all relaxing, we felt like we should be helping the staff from this very unorganized restaurant. Neither staff nor customers should have to experience this type...

On Saturday night we had WORST service I have ever experienced at a restaurant! It’s the first time I have ever left without tipping. We were sat quickly and within 5 minutes the server came to take our food order, he never asked us about drinks. As the server was trying to walk away, i asked for a margarita and my husband asked for a beer. We both ordered the steak and was told that it was taken off the menu two weeks earlier. We were offered the alternative of thinly cut skirt steak served over a personal charcoal grill, which came out raw, tough and tasting very strongly of charcoal and gas. When our meals came out they also forgot the cutlery, we had to ask and wait about 10 minutes for someone to bring us cutlery while our meals got cold. During our meal, we had to repeatedly ask for our drinks and they finally showed up 15 minutes after our dinner had been finished and the plates had been cleared. The server told us that one of his coworkers had “messed up” (it’s now 45 minutes since we ordered drinks, and we reminded him several times that we would like our drinks). Finally, our drinks showed up and my husband asked for the the bill. We then watched the server take the orders of two other tables, run drinks, clear off another table and find a spot for a girl to charge her phone. It took about 30 minutes for him to bring us the bill. He then dropped it off and ran away, not bringing the debit machine with him. We then had to wait another 20 minutes for him to return with the debit machine. It was complete disorganization and a lack of respect for the high prices we were paying for a lacklustre meal. If the place had been busy, I would have been a lot more sympathetic but the restaurant seemed to be at only 25% capacity and our server only had...

KaTO is remarkable in that it has some of the greatest sushi you can find in the entire Ottawa-Gatineau region. The flavour profile and texture of the fish is fantastic, and the rice tastes wonderfully fresh and is so lightly packed while still perfectly holding its structure. I got the Kato Dynamite Roll and I was really impressed! The other items we ordered were tasty as well, but above all, it’s clear that the sushi chefs really know what they’re doing, and it’s for that reason that I will absolutely be coming back to KaTO again. Other than the sushi and sashimi, I would also recommend the Angry Chicken (Poulet Fougueux) for those who enjoy spice. The chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the gochujang sauce had a wonderful kick! I will say that the staff was a bit on the idle side when it came to tending to our table, so it took a while to get served or to refill drinks. I also made a note on OpenTable that the occasion was my friend’s birthday and asked for dessert specialty recommendations for her, but the note went unacknowledged and there was no mention of it at any point. However, the experience was still a great one, as it has been every time in the past, and as I mentioned I will still gladly be returning again in the future!

Thank you to Flavie, our wonderful server who made our first night at the resort an amazing experience! This is my and my family's first trip to Gatineau, and the Kato restaurant was certainly worth our 4-5 hour drive! Our Order: Brussel Sprouts, Angry Chicken, Flaming Scallops, Kato Special Maki Sushi, and Wagyu Sliders. For drinks, we had the Bonsai Mocktail. For dessert, we had the Pannacota and the Tempura Cheesecake with Matcha Ice Cream. Flavie offered to make the two sliders into three so our table could share! It was a very thoughtful offer that we took, and every bite was delicious! My personal favourite were the Brussel Sprouts. The vinaigrette and char made an amazing combination that I was blown away by. Another highlight of our night were the literally flaming Scallops that made lovely pictures for us to take back. We eat sushi a ton back home, but the Kato Special Maki was definitely a unique Maki with an outer shell I have never tried before and tasted scrumptious. Overall, this has been a beautiful start to our stay at Cartier Hotel and Spa Resort~

Beautiful restaurant, lovely atmosphere, good music, but the food was all show, no flavor. The front of house staff was very kind, but the tabke service was inattentive to our needs. Too distracted with the owners/regulars of the restaurant and a party of 6 arriving. We were told that you needed a reservation, but you really don't. Gave us a taste of trying to be high class, but falling short of the mark. We love sushi and eat it everywhere we go. The plates looked amazing but tasted bland and didn't meet our expectations. So much saffron and flare. Great for Instagram, not flavor. For the price of $150.00, it really wasn't worth it. I've had better sushi for far less at much more humble locations. If you're going to eat at the hotel, eat at Ono instead, much better food, much more reasonable. We love sushi and fine dining. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but the reviews on this restaurant are over-rated. My wife and I were disappointed, to say the least, especially for our big vacation dinner and celebration.
