Stopped in at the end of a bike ride in the area for a cold beer and dinner. There was not room on the patio but lots inside and we got a table by a back window so we got a view of the sunset over the lake anyway. Suited us just fine.
Service was slow. It started with confusion over who was going to look after the inside tables. We eventually got a beer although 3 of the taps were empty so choices were not as robust as they should have been. Then we waited for someone to come back and take our food order.
Once that happened and we finished the first round I had to get up and chase the bartender for a 2nd round. Eventually our food came. The Jerk chicken penne pasta was not very Jerk flavoured. My wife took the leftovers home for my son to eat and he did not like it either.
My back ribs were tough and the sauce on them was...well different. My brother-in-law had the Thai sauce jambalaya. Turns out the Thai sauce was blackbean sauce. In summary the food was mediocre.
We moved on to coffee and dessert because they were advertising chocolate chip bread pudding with cream. Bread pudding is a favorite of mine. My wife wanted decaf coffee and the waitress said she "no problem I will brew a fresh pot". Then 3 coffees came out quickly and the decaf was lukewarm. So my wife complained and another waitress apologized and said she would "brew a fresh pot". Problem is that the dessert showed up and my wife did not have her coffee to go with it. They showed up and poured the now hot coffee into her mug with the remaining cold coffee!
The bread pudding was a disappointment. Very bland.
Then we had to wait and wait to catch our waitress to get her to bring the bill. And then wait for her to come back with the credit card machine.
All during dinner we had a beautiful view of the lake and the patio. During our dinner there was almost always an empty table that they could have sat us at. If they were more efficient they could have turned those tables over quicker. Missed opportunity to increase their sales.
I overheard staff complaining. They made it sound like they were short staffed. I seen busier restaurants well managed with the same...

Read moreI had a very unpleasant experience with their customer service.
I visited the restaurant before and loved the views, food and atmosphere. Drove out 45mins just to visit the restaurant with more guests for the long weekend, specifically asked if we could get a table where we can see the sunset. When I was booking the reservation, I originally asked for 7.00PM but was told that only available time slot for that specific seat with the sunset will be available at 6.30PM. So we took the 6.30PM reservation, showed up and was told that other people are still eating. we got another table around 6.45PM which the view was blocked by trees and other tables. The host told us which table that we were supposed to get, and the people on the table left around 7PM. As soon as the table was cleared out, we asked to move the table as we only got water at that time. But the server told us that the table is for another group and that time slot is different. She said she supervises other servers and she needs to talk to them that booking for specific table is not allowed.
I was frankly disappointed as this was my second visit and I was able to book it first time and all of a sudden AFTER we showed up for this reservation, we were told that "sorry, but whoever was booking it for you guys shouldn't have done that, that's not allowed" and was chatting with other servers "Right? booking a specific table is not allowed!" in a very joking manner then nothing else was done. We didn't get the service that we were promised. We CERTAINLY wouldn't have driven 45 mins to visit the restaurant if we knew that beforehand. Overall, I don't think the situation was handled in a very professional way neither.
I loved the restaurant, recommending to other people whoever going up to Lake Simcoe but it's sad how this experience ruined the whole perception of...
