Rose Valley Lodge & Restaurant — Restaurant in Gillies Township

We have been to the restaurant twice. Both times the food was tasty, sumptuous, and the service was excellent. Can't comment on the lodge because we didn't stay there. Went only to the restaurant and so this review is about that. It's a five-course dinner and so go on an empty stomach. We ate a little too much bread and started feeling full even before the entree came out, lol. The first time we went it was to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant had put up extensive decorations at our table at no extra charge. Deborah, Marcus, and their son (sorry, can't remember his name) are extremely friendly and customer-oriented. The second time we went, it was a beef entree day. We had four in our group with one being a vegetarian and another being a pescatarian. Deborah was very accommodating and customized their courses accordingly. The five-course gourmet dinner is definitely good value for the money. Only small drawback is that the second time we went it was quite a hot day. The restaurant is not air-conditioned and was warm, but not overly. Better for the environment anyway not to have AC. Overall, highly recommend the restaurant at Rose Valley Lodge...

If you are looking for EVERYTHING you could ever want in a classy Canadian lodge experience near thunder bay Ontario. Surprisingly it is THE ONLY lodge with these amenities that we could find ANYWHERE in the thunder bay area without going over the border. And even then i dont know if the food would have been comparable. When can you stay in a rustic log cabin with wood stove and jacuzzi tub inside and then get served a 5 course fine meal made in house by a chef with (optional) wine.
