This used to be one of our favourite places for deep fried seafood. Over the past year our family has visited twice and everyone has walked away disappointed Both times I've had raw batter around the fish, as did my wife. The first time I cut it off the fish and opened it up in hopes that the server would ask how it was - they didn't. The second time was for mother's day and my wife and I brought both our moms with us, we ordered fish and chips twice (my mom and I) and my MIL got the fish cakes which, the menu said, came with chow. One of my fish was overcooked and tough and the batter resembled overcooked toast, and the other again had raw batter. The fishcakes did not meet the expectation of my MIL who had gone here for decades, and when she asked about missing chow the one waitress said she'd ask and never came back to our table. Another said they haven't been able to get it for months... Yet nobody seems to have thought to remove it from the menu.
Yet again, with torn open fish left on plates, nobody asked how anything was, so I volunteered a review to the staff who barely offered an apology. Some places would've offered a discount, complimentary desert, or even a free meal when they present undercooked food with missing advertised sides...
Never again. Sorry to see another restaurant riding it's nostalgia and name while removing quality from their...

I had the scallop burger special with potato salad, and it was honestly close to what my Nana made. Yum.
My other friends at the table had great food too (deep fried muscles, marinated shrimp, and sone soup thing I cannot remember. But what I can remember is the delicious homemade buns, which were delicious.
And then there was the delicious strawberry rhubarb pie—it was to die for. My stomach may be bigger, but it was worth it.
Our server Candice was super-amazing, friendly, accommodating, and all-round just a great person/server. I quipped that she deserved a raise while I was playing the bill (so owners, take note!).
Lastly, the menu choices offered enough selection that I would go back again (and again and again). I can see why Island View was so busy!
Sadly I am not sure I will ever be back, as we are visited from Ontario—but by gum, I would say this place has offered exactly what I was hoping to see/experience in a Nova Scotian restaurant (oh and the view is beautiful...

Was on the fence about going here due to the mixed reviews. I should have stayed on the other side of the fence. We ordered fried clams & fries, seafood chowder, the classic hamburger, and a lobster roll for takeout. The fried clams were probably the best part of the meal, we were given a large serving and they weren’t as greasy as I was expecting they would be. The burger was good. The lobster roll was okay, but I had better in Shediac, NB at a fast food restaurant. Now the seafood chowder was the biggest disappointment. I have eaten better seafood chowder out of a can. This one was watery, the seafood inside consisted mostly of fish pieces and maybe one half scallop. I swear I have had better chowder out of a can. I couldn’t even finish mine and I usually finish my food. Salt and pepper couldn’t even save it.
I gave two stars because the clams were good and the service was fast and friendly. The view is absolutely gorgeous. We were contemplating getting ice-cream later but I didn’t feel like spending any more money at this establishment.
We traveled to NS from Ontario and one of my bucketlist things was to eat a good chowder. Unfortunately for me, the...
