I don't usually do reviews but I do read reviews about places. I came across this place in my travels, know a few people who have eaten here, so I thought I would give it a try. This is, hands down my go to spot when I travel this way, some weeks it 2 times thru out of the week. It nice, welcoming with home style cooking. I have tried many different menu and the special items as well, every meal was great, very good prices for the amount of food given. I have never left hungry. A little mom and pop dinner with cleanest bathrooms ever. The owners are awesome people. You can tell they really care about the customer. Very kids friendly, they get a free ice cream after their meals. Today, I was feeling I should give them a shout out! There are (2) one star posts from Tea & Dylan, frankly they both should be ashamed of them selves for leaving such a garbage post of lies. I was there that day and saw the gentleman go tell them they need to move, the backend of their vehicle was sticking out into the entrance way into the HWY, they could easily have gotten hit by anyone trying to come in off the hwy. The gentleman was not in the wrong and the people were being quite rude before they pulled out their phone to video. I heard him telling them, he had been telling them repeatedly to move. I wasn't the only one that seen/heard the entire thing. The place was packed, wish more people thought to post. It's ashame, these people trying to do their best and are subjected to this kind of garbage posts. Regardless, I have been here many times, food is awesome, love the home cooked meals/specials, prices are reasonable, great atmosphere, very kind and friendly people. There are plenty of signs posted, very visible signs regarding you have to be eating in the resaurant to use the restaurant bathrooms. Seem fair to me! After all it is a restauant not a rest stop. To the owners, there will always be haters. Just keep up the amazing job you are doing, I will be back...
Read moreI recently came to buy some icecream. Was soooo excited to get icecream - had been a long ride. I pull in and park. For some pretext - I get car sick - so I was sitting for 30 SECONDS in my seat before getting out. Kissed my girlfriend. Owner of restaurant comes out yelling at us. I literally just wanted to buy ice cream? And this man’s comes SCREAMING. I try to respond and clarify I am wanting to buy icecream - he starts berating me calling me names swearing and being rude. He is telling me I’m young and stupid and that my generation is worthless. I express we are going to leave and ask him to stop being rude. He continues screaming at us threatening to hurt us and damage our car. All three of us (in the car) are literally scared trying to leave - but I have to move from the back seat to the front (because again - I was experiencing car sickness.) he continues. I literally have filmed evidence of him screaming and saying horrid things. Honestly I hope by having this experience and sharing how horrid, rude, homophobic, ageist, belligerent , and disrespectful? He was? That maybe my review will cause him to reflect? On how his hateful & downright disrespectful behaviour was not ok? I am 30 years old and gay. I’m sorry you hate people 30 years younger than you - I am sorry me wanting to purchase icecream from you was not what you wanted? But dude. Next time don’t come outside frothing at the mouth screaming for people to leave your parking lot. If you are an actual business? You would accept business. No matter how you personally feel towards how the person represents. I am very obviously trans and it was as soon as he saw me getting out of the car and interacting with my girlfriend that he had an issue. I hope no person - gay - straight - whatever. I HOPE no person is ever treated the way...
Read moreWe arrived at lunch time on our motorcycles, with our gear and our helmets. We were directed to the smallest table - nowhere to put our gear. We couldn't put our jackets over the back of the chairs because it was a small booth type setup with the chairs hard up against the wall. The only place for our helmets ($1200 each) was the floor. We wanted to sit at a more appropriate table but were told we couldn't because someone else needing four seats might come in. One of us is 6'5" and couldn't fit comfortably into the seat. We left without ordering. We love to support businesses like this and this was our third visit of the year but no more for this establishment. We have been here many times over the years but the new owner is rude and unaccommodating. The food is not as good as it was before the new owners took over. They DO NOT serve decaff coffee, it was a flat no to this request. We really miss the friendly cheerful atmosphere of before, now the decor is gloomy and the owner is rude. Never again.
Edit to add: We will never leave our gear outside on our bikes because the chances of being able to get outside in time to prevent theft is remote and once out there we would not be able to chase the thief down since it is illegal to ride a motorcycle without a helmet. Then we would have to find someone to drive the 300km round trip with a trailer to get us and our bikes. Then spend up to $4000 to replace our stolen gear.
Since the response to my request for decaff coffee was not 'sorry we are all out of decaff at the moment' I find it hard to believe you ever carry it since it hasn't been available for any of the three visits we have made there. Since I've had two meals there I felt qualified to...
