We have been to a lot of restaurants, in many cities.. small towns and fine dining and appreciate a good hometown place. We were very interested in trying Mylar and Loretta for the first time and haven’t been this disappointed in a restaurant for a long, long time. One of our worst experiences. I called ahead to ensure we would get a table (4 of us two adults and two well behaved kids) and we were put in a side room where the bar was, that only had two tables isolated from the rest of the dining room. There were many tables free so we can only assume it was because we had kids. Our daughter’s milk was yellow and tasted like vinegar; might have been buttermilk but not sure, we weren’t told, just hopefully the new glass was better. The people working there were actually very nice and attentive, but that was the only positive. The French onion soup was mediocre at best, there was so much cheese and bread that you could hardly call it soup. There was very little to no broth and a fair amount of onions. When dinner came we requested a side of mayo for our burgers, and we were given a bowl full of condiments in fast food packages with mayo that was warm to the touch, and a pair of scissors to open them. The burgers were overcooked and burnt, and the fries were overcooked or double cooked and stale like they were reheated. The chicken strips our son had were dark brown like the oil was burnt or old and he wouldn’t even eat them. The fresh bread at the beginning of the meal was decent. The pasta our daughter had didn’t come with Parmesan which typically is offered, but my husband had to get up and find somebody and they brought some, which was also very, very yellow. At the end of the day, we didn’t go there with very high expectations, but we were optimistic that we would have a nice time out, but instead, we were honestly wishing that we went anywhere else. We did not complain because we had our small kids with us and I feel like we would’ve been complaining about every single thing so we just ate what we could and got out of there, but when you’re spending $100 you should at least get something that is somewhat enjoyable. I feel like they knew we weren’t happy because they gave us a $5 off coupon for our next visit. Sorry we won’t be back, we don’t...

Very mediocre restaurant with bad service. Would not recommend, there's tons of other better options if you're looking for quality fare and warm atmosphere.

  1. Our server was not wearing a mask. We are in a PANDEMIC. EVERY employee should be wearing a mask. For whatever reason, our server was the sole employee not wearing a mask and none of the other employees seemed to think that was an issue. This server also did not social distance when taking orders and I felt extremely uncomfortable throughout.

  2. Our server was just a bad server in general. We'd chosen this place on the recommendation of a friend and there were supposedly special dishes available, which upon arriving and seeing the menu, were not present. We simply ordered but then as we saw other parties be seated by other servers, they were informed of those specials we saw online but were not informed of by our own server. Our server was also almost never present despite only taking care of our and one other party. This server was further unaware of what was even on the menu when we ordered certain things that were written right on the menu. Ludicrous. The server wasn't even polite, which is fine, but there needs to be a baseline of professionalism and honestly it really just reflected the poor quality of the establishment in general.

  3. Dishes were average to subpar. Overall, the meat dishes were fairly bland, some of the dishes were pretty small considering the prices, and nothing really stood out. The fries were good, but that was it.

Overall, it simply isn't worth the price when the service is that terrible and you can find the same or better food pretty much anywhere else that serves burgers, poutines, brunch, etc. We had initially considered ordering the aforementioned special dishes on top of our already ordered dishes after learning they were available, but after seeing the quality of their regular dishes that idea quickly...

I'm a soup lover and I normally dont hold the bar high for soups from restaurants, however this French onion soup was pure bliss!! In addition the restaurant itself is beautiful; I loved the country themed decor. And the servers were amazing!! 10/10 cant wait till my next visit!

Edit: I'm completely blown away by how I was treated. Your server Bill, is extremely unprofessional. The first time he mixed up our orders and had put my coleslaw on my work colleagues plate, he then proceeded to me that it didn't matter and refused to take it back to the kitchen to fix his mistake. I literally had to scoop it off of his plate (he hates coleslaw) it was all over his french fries, which left him picking at the few dry fries there were. I brushed it off because stuff happens. This time around he not only came off as rude but his demeanor changed when talking with me versus other customers, both my colleagues recognized this; as it was clear as day. He kicked my boot rather hard and I wear steel toes due to my job, never apologized(I was sitting on the inside of a four person table for reference). I also asked for my change back rather loudly, everyone at my table heard me except him somehow, he must have selective hearing, which left me hounding other waitresses who were already busy to track him down. Sorry Bill but folk do not reward people like you with tips, you disgust me. Your food is amazing but Bill's customer service needs a lot of work, he might be better suited as a dishwasher in the back away from customers. I will never come back, not after how I was treated by Bill. In fact I am quite surprised that he's still employed with his piss poor attitude that I experienced from him on both occasions that I dinned at your establishment. The other waitresses were a delight to deal with! If you choose to spend your hard earned pay cheque here, for the best experience please request someone other...

Mylar & Loreta’s – A Must-Visit in Singhampton Mylar & Loreta’s is a true gem with more than a century of history behind it, and you can feel that heritage the moment you walk in. The rustic charm and cozy, old-time atmosphere make you feel like you’ve stepped back into a simpler era, and it sets the perfect tone for a relaxed meal. The food is excellent — hearty, flavorful, and made with care. Portions are generous, and the prices are very fair for the quality you get. The drink selection is just as enjoyable, making it easy to sit back and spend time with friends or family. What really stands out is the service. The staff are warm, welcoming, and attentive without ever being overbearing. You can tell they take pride in keeping the legacy of this place alive while making sure guests feel right at home. Whether you’re from the area or visiting nearby Collingwood, Mylar & Loreta’s is absolutely worth the stop. It’s more than just a meal — it’s an experience rooted in history, great food, and genuine hospitality.

Fantastic Sunday evening roast! We had turkey dinner, roast beef dinner and kids pasta. Both dinners came with either soup or salad and this evening it was chilli pasta soup which really hit the spot. The caesar salad was also very good. The roast beef was juicy, tender, well marbled and absolutely fantastic with horseradish. It was accompanied with seasonal veggies and mashed potatoes. The turkey dinner was flavourful and the gravy was great. It came with a choice of dessert and the sticky toffee pudding was great - what little I could get from the kids. The kids pasta had a really fresh tomato sauce. Overall good value and good food!
