I HATE giving bad reviews so I typically don't but I always give honest ones. Second time trying because I'm a big foodie from toronto, we do food tours etc. Moved to port hope so ofc had to try it out.
We got a bit of everything the first time as a family except the chicken because of the cost and while it had great reviews online I felt It should be skipped for the brisket, pulled pork and biscuits (gave a review on those already so I won't repeat). This time I had a friend up from the city and treated him to the chicken dinner and brisket sando (combo?) Or which I thought. I was initially told it came with 1side and chicken came with 2sides so I got fries, cornbread and onion rings. After paying I found out there was an $8 upcharge for the onion rings! Thankfully she realized her error in not mentioning and swiftly cancelled for me and was told it doesn't come WITH a side 😪 I'm not sure what's more wiLd that the tiny brisket sando was $15 or that the "side" was gonna cost me an extra $8 🤔
now ppl listen to me when I tell you their onion rings were GREAT the first time, we enjoyed the fries this time round, I'm no cornbread connoisseur like my wife but theirs HITS super dense but moist and a nice size too. Brisket was tender just a lot smaller then we were expecting , was thinkin maybe a kaiser sized joint especially at 15 with NO side not even basic fries but ok. Chicken was cool but not the star of the show there, still a lot of good items I didn't get anything bad haven't tried the ribs yet but hear great things so I'll give em a try. But I'd Def take the brisket thing into consideration had me analyzing the menu like I think half a pound is selling there 17.50 how much did that sando weigh? Cuz it ain that big and it was 15 might be better off just gettin straight brisket then I duno I was perplexed to say the least spent $40 with no drinks. Chicken, fries and a brisket sandwich but nothing tasted bad. Inflation and tariffs effect I guess, I'd solve by adding a side to the premium items on menu ribs and brisket.
Mightve been a huge misunderstanding in which case I'd happily recant? But it hurt my heart especially because I brought a friend from Toronto...
Read moreWent here for lunch on the long weekend and we had to wait for about 40mins to get our food (two sandwiches). We had no problem waiting for our food, all of the tables were full with many families ordering big lunches. However, after we got our food (again a 40 min. wait) a gentleman came up to the window and ordered, and after he payed was told it would be a 40 minute wait. When told this, he asked for a refund because he didn’t know it would be that long. The cashier called her manager/supervisor over for help, who then yelled back to the kitchen to ask if they could make his order in 10 minutes. They said they could but there were several orders ahead of his, which the manager then told them to prioritize his so he could have his order first/in 10 minutes instead of 40.
Very disappointing that after waiting 40 minutes, and many other people doing the same, that one man received his order ahead of everyone else simply because he didn’t want to wait. Food was good, but after this we probably wouldn’t go back for poor service.
Follow Up note to response: Thank you for your response and trying to clarify the situation better. I see your point on it being a decision made to remedy an in the moment situation. However, I will further note that as we ordered, and watched other people order, no one knew it was going to be that long. We asked after we paid as well and when told it would be 30-45 minutes we weren’t expecting it. Again, we understand why, but it would have been nice to know a head of time. We even said that and the server kind of shrugged and said it was fresh and they were busy. This happened for several people after us, many people saying “Oh, well that would have been good to know before.” but many just took it in stride and waited. We were disappointed that the first person to actually request a refund with this reaction was the only one to receive accelerated services and support, while other people had expressed this without a refund. I would recommend telling people how long it would be before they order, or have a dynamic sign put up to highlight the wait times and mitigate situations like this...
Read moreUnfortunately have to write this review. At one time Yorkies offered great fast service and there prices were good for what you received. A few years ago they started cutting from what you got in a meal, Corn Bread was extra$, no more Potato Wedges, etc. And prices increased. I get it, costs go up, but quality should be consistent with those cost increase. Just yesterday I stopped in, ordered a 3 Piece chicken for myself and a 1/2 rack of ribs to take home to my wife. I asked if they could separate the ribs into another package for me, and was told I need to tell the other window people that??? The Ribs were $15.50 for 5 pieces of ribs? And total price for a 3 piece Chicken meal, bottle of pop and rib's was $40.00. Now, again I get it costs go up, but the fries were undercooked, the coleslaw literally tasted like nothing, as in no flavor whatsoever, and I waited 40 minutes for my meal. Not overly busy, probable 3-4 people waiting and 3 people stopped in for what I'm guessing were phone orders. (The lady at the till was friendly, but as soon as she printed my receipt, and seen I didn't leave a tip, no I don't tip when I have to stand in line to get my food, that's another rant for another day, she tossed my receipt at me and said "NEXT"). Sorry, the experience just isn't worth the lower quality food and high prices. At one time you offered a great fast product at a reasonable price. Unfortunately for you there are other options in the area, please try to do better. I've talked to other people and they have say they don't come anymore because of this. Hope this helps you make improvements...Cheers! *To respond. It wasn't two full meals, but a 3 piece chicken dinner and an order of rib's a la carte' which is just ribs no sides, so your comment is false regarding what we got for $40.00. As well, we've been coming every year, multiple times a year, my comment was how there used to be more included with the meal(s). You didn't respond to the undercooked fries' nor the tasteless coleslaw, which we threw out, so that's ok...not exactly quality BBQ, or good value as you mention but you know your market best...
