Greenhill Pizza and Wings is the most offensive pizza me and my partner have ever eaten. We had ordered a half/half pizza, one half pepperoni, the other half bbq chicken (onion, bbq sauce, grilled chicken) at around 5pm. The pizza came with one dip, we had chosen garlic dip. When we had called to place the order, the employee left the phone for several minutes with no warning. When we finally got to place our order, we were told 20 minutes, which as far as I'm concerned was correct.
When we had gotten home it was lukewarm, which was expected as it's a 15 minute walk. My partner had a slice of pepperoni before we rewarmed it. It had tasted very herby and natural, but in a gross, near medicinal way. You could taste the ingredients individually, which was dentrimental to it's cohesion.
Reheated in the oven at 350f for 5 minutes, the pizza was pleasantly crispy, and that's all I could give it. The chicken was tasteless, old, and chewy. The bbq sauce appeared to be just a layer of ketchup with some brown sugar, it was watery and pale. The red onions tasted normal, but that's not an accomplishment. The dough seemed undercooked, making it excessively doughy and thick-tasting, despite being a remarkably thin crusted pizza. The layout of the toppings was overcrowded in the middle, but there was a solid two inches of crust with zero toppings, just bad sauce and overly chewy crust.
My partner had the pepperoni half and dip, and I did not, so the next words are their own. The pepperonis were too flavourful, in terms of sodium. The sauce was watered down and thin, tasting like vinegar. The cheese was like a slab even after reheating, it was dry and didn't stretch or pull. The dip was standard garlic dip, and had nothing remarkable or notable about it, and was served to us lukewarm, as they don't refrigerate their dips.
The floors of the restaurant seemed dirty, and behind the counter seemed dirty and over crowded with papers and dips. The glass the counter was made of was scuffed, with visible grime.
Overall, the was pizza cheap, $12 for a large and 3 toppings plus dip, and the taste reflects it. I would not recommend eating here to anybody I love or even tolerate. Perhaps us having to reheat it did something to it, but if a pizza reheats this poorly, I feel safe in calling it bad pizza. We only ordered here because our normal place does not have BBQ sauce for a BBQ chicken pizza, and frankly, I wish I never had the craving for it, as it resulted in us having the worst pizza we've...
Read moreThe short: Try em out with one of the cheaper deals (pickup deals are super affordable). I feel like the bad reviews dotted about are rare occurances with maybe an unprofessional person unfortunately on their staff list.
Edit to add: been getting food here now for a few years. Had 1 single issue so far. A topping was missing from a pizza. Boo hoo. This place rocks!
So I checked the reviews first before ordering. A good amount of top reviews, but also some scattered here and there saying this place is awful, rude, dirty, and the pizza sucks.
I admit, I was hesitating giving it a shot...
But I was hungry, and they have great pickup deals. So I said whatever, and gave it a shot.
Ordered pie for myself, and it was good! It's more on the greasy fast food kinda style, but its good. I'd say its comparable to Dominos but a bit better. It isn't some fancy gourmet restaurant so not sure what most are expecting. It's a pretty generic non-franchise local neighbourhood pizza place.
I went in about 40 minutes after they opened, so maybe the timing was good on which staff was working?
I feel like maybe there might be a couple bad eggs on staff at different times and those are the weak link the bad reviews are experiencing, but who knows.
Will definitely order here again for now. Wonder if I'll get one of the terrible experiences.
PS. The staff wasn't talkative, but they wished me a 'Have a good day' on the way out. Pretty basic expected stuff :). I was given the impression the two people working were the owners, or at...
Read moreThe Most Amazing Pizza I ever had. I love to have vegatables on my pizza, and the veggies they put on were on thick cut and not over cooked. Just perfect. So fresh, so delicious. The meat I chose was the chicken and it too was delicious. On one pizza I ordered the butter chicken sauce with the butter chicken and some vegetables. Amazing. On the other I had thick crust with their special sauce, regular roasted chicken and veggies. So totally amazing. The wings were of the smaller variety but the sauce was awesome. Absolutely perfect pizza, I ordered this two weeks ago, still not over it. The only suggestion I would have would be to move to the larger sized wings, that's all. Should they do that, this would be far and away the best pizza place in Hamilton. They didn't have to take the time to "build" the pizza the way they did, but they did!! That extra effort just to make the veggies like so, and this like that and oh so delicious, and so very thoughtfully made. Pizza made mindfully!! That's what it is! I'm ordering right now damnit! Can't take it anymore! Bring on...
