Well where do you start, in the small back road Town of Port Hood Nova Scotia there is a gem of a spot! I am speaking of Sandeannies 🧁🥯 bakery and restaurant. This is a very unassuming place located directly beside the road, free parking just walk in. Once you enter the door you're directly in the dining room. Find yourself a comfortable seat in one of the dozen tables offered to their customers. A coffee station is there to help yourself get started quickly. The family-owned business is quick to come to your table and take your order for some amazing homemade dishes, I just want to go back again and again and keep trying new dishes, it's so amazing! This quaint little country diner is a treat for sure, seated close to everyone else conversations often spill over from table to table and the laughter ensues. There is a small back racked area with fresh baked goods, there is a refrigerator in the dining room and when you open the door you find fresh strawberry freezer jam in low sugar options, with no pectin or chemicals. There's also a large chilled glass front cooler with amazing handmade homemade desserts, Nanaimo bars, date squares, extra large flaky cakes, mint mud pies, and the list goes on and on. Wii frequent this location about a half a dozen times a year in our travels, and always keep this place and the Clove and Hitch Bistro at the top of our list, for breakfast, lunch and dinner 🍽️. I highly recommend you put this in your calendar and address in your navigation 🧭 and try this amazing...

We were shocked with this place - in both a bad and good way. Ordered the chicken waffles as the menu and these google reviews hyped it up. Received our meals and the waffles were definitely not home made, pale, no taste, tasted like freezer waffles and were also ice-cold. Waitress apologized and the customer service in this place is truly exceptional and we still left feeling alright about our experience here because of our waitress. Apparently the waffles have changed here and until they change them back... don’t order it!! Excellent baked goods here - we bought a blueberry pie, the carrot cake and some muffins which were all delicious. Hopefully our experience was a slip-up as most reviews here are very positive. Would return to give them...

Ordered the beef dip. Extremely small thus exceedingly overpriced. Onions and green peppers were sliced extremely thin. Hardly noticed they were there.

The Au Jus was packaged/instant beef gravy. It was not Au Jus. But most importantly, it was over salted. Far too much salt. I am a salt lover and this made me concerned. It must have been added or the dilution ratio was way off. Wow.

Regardless, service was excellent. Atmosphere was great. Washrooms and restaurant were extremely clean.

Things have changed since my previous visit. But to support local business, I will return once more and order something different from the menu.

Keep up the good effort and get in that kitchen and supervise the kitchen...

If there were more places like this, the world would be a better place (at least for our stomachs). All day breakfast and brunch is always a score, and it's even better when the food is amazing. The chicken and waffles were great. The meat was crispy, juicy and seasoned and it seemed to be drizzled with spicy mayo. The egg on top of it was so perfectly done sunny side up that I didn't want to break the yolk. The Eggs Benedict didn't fall short either. The hollandaise sauce tasted the way hollandaise is supposed to, and the home fries were beautifully crispy. Both these dishes get a 5/5. The server also had an amazing sense of humor. I'd say this place is definitely a MUST.

The food was good, the bread wonderful. I had oat bread, buttered and got a side of molasses to drizzle over it, along with fried bologna. I got excited when I could have something similar to a Newfoundland classic breakfast, but Cape Breton style. Also pictured is the remains of a buttery oat meal cake that I split with my friend James, similar to shortbread, and pairs well with jam. It was simply lovely plain. There was also a side of Skirlie, a traditional Scottish concoction made from oats, onions, fat and spices. It tasted like turkey stuffing and while a bit dense had a great flavour. I quite enjoyed the small portion served with my breakfast.
