Food: My meal was presentable and the portion was generous considering the price, especially. It wasn't as tasty as I'd hoped. The fries in particular were a bit mushy, greasy and ranged from tasteless to a "rotten potato" kind of taste.
Variety: The menu had popular/general items (burgers, fried fish, salads) but lacked special options such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten free etc.
Service: Upon arrival my company and I were acknowledged, seated and served menus. The indoor environment looked comfortable but we chose the option to sit outside on the patio, as it was a beautiful day. It wasn't long after we ordered that our food arrived. Server was friendly, engaging and our orders were accurate.
Environment: Indoor and outdoor, including bathroom was very clean, decorative and spacious. The music was easy to listen to and tied well with the diner's theme (country, old times, trains). Outdoor patio had a scenic view of the ocean and a trail which had a lot of through traffic, especially ATVs however they were very respectful of those dining. Patio had umbrellas for shade.
Parking: There was plenty of parking in the front and side of diner.
Accessibility: Not reccomend for most wheelchairs. Most likely would need assistance. Some...
Read moreThis is a nice spot to stop and eat in Holyrood. Lots of ambience as it overlooks the inlet. The service is very slow so come if you are not in a hurry! My husband had the beef barley soup 6 oz. It came in a small Cruet dish. We have been here over an hour and have still not received our food, with the exception of my husbands soup. We are not in a hurry today so we don't mind the wait. Our food came!! Over one hour!! My chowder had to be reheated. It didn't have large chunks of all the delicious fish that was suppose to be in it. Lots of potatoes and heavy cream based. My mom and sister shared the Conductors Sampler. Beautiful presentation. Great for fried food lovers. My husband had fish and chips. He said it was great. The photos look great though! Definitely Alma’s chowder in Port au Basque was better. Mom, sister also thought platter wasn’t as good as they...
Read moreWe were recently visiting Newfoundland from Manitoba, and had been driving to Brigus and Cupids before returning home. On a whim, we decided to stop at The Station Diner for a bite to eat. To our great surprise and delight, we had the most delicious meal. We chose the special which was a hot turkey dinner, with stuffing, potatoes and gravy as well as cranberry sauce and cooked vegetables. It tasted like a home-cooked meal. For dessert, I ordered a flaky with raspberry which was so fresh and delicious that it could have been served in a classy, upscale restaurant. The service was very friendly and attentive as well. And the price was fair - great value!! All in all, we were extremely impressed with this small diner. Highly...
