Hands down one of the most gross dining experiences we ever had. I don’t understand how this place has more than a 2 star rating, 3 at most.

The entire place was filthy, every single table except one was filled with dirty dishes and untouched food (which should have been our first clue, but we were hungry and hurried to grab the one clean table). The cook was the one to take our order and was very short and curt with us, we chalked it up to a busy day (again assuming by the amount of dirty tables) so I won’t hold that against him. But we had to repeat our very simple order three times before he got it right.

On top of constant slamming doors, throwing the dirty dishes loudly in a container and the slow service, the food was inedible and two of us are very concerned of getting sick from it. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger that tasted fine the first few bites but once closer to the middle it was clearly not cooked and had a really offputting taste. Had a chicken caesar wrap and when the person said that the chicken looked off, we thought they were exaggerating until we all saw it too. The chicken was gray, we didn’t even think it was chicken at first. The wrap was also a hard shell pita and impossible to bite. When the person took a small nibble to give it the benefit of the doubt, she said it had a slimy sour taste and couldn’t eat anymore. The fries were absolutely gross as well. None of us could finish even 1/4 of our meal and the prices were weirdly high for a small town diner to begin with. 🤢

Never ever ever will step foot in here again and don’t recommend anyone else doing it either. No wonder no one finished any of their food at the...

This place was recommended by someone who worked at the campground we stayed at. We arrived and it was quite busy. Stood for a few minutes and waited to see if we would be greeted, which we were not. We decided to sit down at one of the only empty tables, which hadn't been cleaned yet. We cleared it ourselves, waited 15 minutes before a waitress came to give us a menu. She did not wipe our table or anything, and meanwhile three groups of people who had arrived after we did had already received their food. We ordered without looking at the menu (menu is up on the wall). She brought our drinks pretty quickly. The food took forever. Another 30 minutes and several tables who had come and gone and we received out order, which did not include our daughter's food. She realized she'd forgotten to put her order in at that point but did not say so. Instead she told us it would be another minute for the pancakes. The toast was buttered cold, eggs and beans were cold and dry. Several minutes later and she said it would "just be another few seconds for the pancakes". We fed our daughter off our plates as we waited and watched several more orders being served to other customers, including pancakes. A full hour and 15 minutes since we'd first sat down and our daughter's pancakes arrived, after we'd all long since finished. She offered a take out container but we said no we'd eat them there.

I will say that the food may have been much better had it all been warm and served in a timely manner. The service in general was...

I had breakfast at By the River Diner in Hunter River, and it was hands down the worst dining experience I’ve ever had.

Yes, the service was fast — but the meal looked and tasted like it was thrown together by a two-year-old. The toast was stale, the eggs were overcooked, the food was completely bland, and the homefries were forgotten. The server didn’t even apologize for the mistake, which only made things worse. To top it off, the coffee cup wasn’t even full when it was served.

The so-called “deluxe breakfast” was also misleading. The menu made it sound like bacon, sausage, and bologna were included, but only after ordering did we learn it was actually “choice of.” That kind of false advertising is unacceptable.

By the end, I was so frustrated and angry that I left without paying — and honestly, who would want to pay for stale, poorly cooked food paired with careless service?

Save yourself the disappointment and go literally anywhere else for breakfast.

If zero stars was an option, they would hit every one!

I honestly...

Exceptional service. We were a party of 5 and were seated and cared for by staff immediately; our breakfast orders taken and food prepared in no time. Staff was incredibly friendly, coming from Ottawa, it was a surreal experience being in the company of restaurant staff who actually excel at customer service; they felt like old friends! Food was delicious, everything made at the location, proteins brought in fresh on island. The only negative I can think of is I wish I could have spent more time talking up the cook, he was awesome! Everyone loved the food, service and venue, and this will forever remain a glowing memory on the island for us. Thank you!

Out and about site seeing for the day and my wife happened to find this little gem along our route. Glad we stopped. We ordered haddock and chips as well as a roast beef sandwich. The fish was super tasty. Very lightly breaded and fried, super moist and tasty. The fries were great. The Roast Beef sandwich was served on homemade bread that tasted like it was made today (pretty sure it was) with home cooked and sliced roast beef. Super happy to have found this little road side stop along our travels.

We stopped at this bakery for lunch. We got a table on the outside patio. The view was beautiful. We ordered the fish and chips. One piece of fish was plenty along with fries and coleslaw. The fries were good but homemade fries would make this dish even better . PEI is the home of potatoes! The waitress was efficient and always smiling 😃. Would drop by again if Im in the area. The take out bakery items were fresh and good. Especially the cookies 🍪.
