First I’ll start off by saying the website for both the wilderness lodge and bistro, do not reflect the accuracy of the experience on arrival. As we went for lunch based on website. On arrival you drive down a dirt road that opens up to unkept grounds, and outdated unkept lodge. Pictures on website not accurately reflect current state of “resort”. We initially thought we drove down the wrong road as there seemed to be private residents on site as well, rather a small community of people and we assumed we accidentally drove into an indigenous reserve. Until you see the lodge. We went in for lunch. The menu very limited. The lodge very old, outdated but tons of character. I will say the food was delicious! Cleanliness not great at all. We ended our meal and went to the bathroom. Located downstairs the hallway was filthy, dirt and leaves everywhere. The bathroom I almost didn’t use and even left without washing my hands. The bathroom I assume caters to the private quarters as well as there was a shower inside and someone’s personal used towel was just laying in the sink. In order for me to wash my own hands I’d have to remove said towel. It felt very unsanitary and I left immediately. I’m sorry I didn’t take a photo as I didn’t think anyone would believe me, but I just wanted out of the bathroom. It was as if I walked into someone’s house and used their dirty bathroom. After telling my husband my experience he decided to wait to use the gas station washroom down the way. The resort has great potential. The food we enjoyed very much. You can tell in the past years from awards/stickers on the door that it was once a great place and websites do not accurately reflect current state. I believe they are still being used to reflect...
Read moreAs soon as you walk in, the decor and ambiance of Cabot Shores is a delight... from the different colored table clothes to the stone mantle surrounding the wood burning stove. We were immediately greeted by our sweet and efficient waitress, Prajakda, who was knowledgeable and professional, and you could tell right away that she had such a kind soul. We enjoyed an item from each section of the seasonal menu. For appitizers, we enjoyed the locally caught mussles in a light white creamy garlic broth and the cod croquettes crispy, dense, creamy, and full of flavor with caramelized onion jam which was only slightly sweet. We then split a pasta entree, which we normally would not do, but we just had to try this homemade Ricotta pasta in light butter and garlic ... WOW! By far, this was better than any pasta we've ever enjoyed anywhere! ...light, fluffy, creamy... absolutely amazing! For our entree, we enjoyed locally caught lobster and Atlantic salmon, which were cooked to perfection. The salmon was so moist, yet slightly crisped on top with a light maple and stone mustard glaze. We just had to try the apple crisp and brownie, both with freshly whipped cream on top, because we knew they had to be homemade... both were SO GOOD! Our chef for the evening was Chef Ajani. We had to meet her to tell her in person how pleased we were with each creation and that she should open her own restaurant! Thank you, Cabot Shores Bistro for a memorable evening...we...
Read moreWe came here for breakfast and were told that they only provide meals for their guests. The owners were nice enough to allow us to eat. However, their “buffet style breakfast” was very limited. We are 4 adults and 1 two year old who only got to eat a banana, biscuit and a slice of fruit bread. The guys had a glass of coffee and the 2 year old ate nothing. We were shocked when the lady told us it was $63. We live in Toronto where everything is expensive and would not have paid that for what we ate. We left hungry still and had to go somewhere else to eat. Breakfast is something we do often and for that price I would expect a lot more options.
Maybe for those who stay there it is a good place but if you’re not staying there don’t go there to eat even if they say come on in. We just can’t justify that $63 price for the banana, slice of fruit bread,...
