I visited Ryer Retail about ten years ago with some friends, and it was such a memorable experience. Back then, not only could you buy live lobsters to take away, but you could also sit and enjoy freshly boiled lobsters in seawater. We had two huge lobsters right there at the restaurant and then took two more to go. It was a fantastic time, and the experience left a lasting impression.

I recently visited again just a week ago, and while the location is still the same, unfortunately, dining in is no longer allowed. The owner informed us that this has been the case for the past eight years since it’s not classified as a restaurant. Nevertheless, the owners, a lovely elderly couple, were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Though the dining experience has changed, I highly recommend Ryer Retail for anyone looking to buy fresh lobsters. If I get the chance to go again, I’ll definitely take a couple of...

Yummy lobster but poor service. Place wasn't busy when I came in. Took a while for someone to talk to me. Lady at the counter had an attitude and made me feel like I was in the wrong place. I told her it was my first time eating here and she was very unhelpful and just stared at me. Then I asked if she recommended anything and she said "No! I don't recommend anything". So I asked her to show me the different lobster sizes which she did but seemed like I was a bother. There was no line and only 6 people sitting outside eating. I felt very unwelcome. Regardless I stayed and ordered a lobster. The lobster was delicious and very well cooked. I do recommend eating here if you are looking for a tasty lobster. The place is simple. You can sit outside overlooking the ocean or the road. The lobster will come in a plastic container and you will be given a bib, paper plate and...

We were big family and we placed a big order of lobsters here. The only thing that left a bad taste was their service, we happened to speak to 3 people there and the older lady was extremely rude to us. I dont know why but she treated us real bad on a couple of times while we were there. We had to remind her that we are your customers and not the other way around. The other girl attendant and the older gentleman were nice. May be the old lady was having a bad day or she didnt like our skin color unfortunately.... There are plenty of other places in the area serving lobster and thats...

Great service and friendly staff. lobster prices were fair and there are many different sizes, also gave us a bottle of salt water to cook the lobster in (we brought our own bottle. We bought a few pounds of scallops as well, they were also delicious. Don't know anywhere else I would buy lobster on the south shore.

Great fresh lobsters 5 min from Peggy's cove. A little shack by the road but very fresh lobsters (very active off the tank). To go or boiled in the spot with good butter, takes about twenty minutes. Cost is by weight. Basic tables but you're going there for the lobsters! They do not service buses.
