Fantastic food , even better service and have been going here for over a decade but starting to be disappointed. Food is still great as is the service but getting sick of the cheap cost cutting measures . Drinks are 4 dollars a drink , not a drink with alcohol just a normal pop , 4 dollars ….. if you drink it all no free refill . What restaurant charges 4 dollars for a pop and doesn’t give refills . So if you’re still thirsty you get to pay another 4 bucks or tempt fate and drink Ingersoll lovely sewage flavoured water there . Adding a lemon slice doesn’t take that awful taste away . Ordered cross track fries for an app ( yummy waffle fries with cheese and bacon ) used to be the fries were covered in cheese , now , be lucky if half the fries even have cheese on them . Fettuccine Alfredo used to come with a nice garlic bread on a heated mini baguette now it comes with a plain cold crusty bun . List goes on and on . Just cheap cost cutting measures likely implemented from the top thinking customers won’t notice . Sad . I think they are living on past glories of being on tv but for me I won’t be back . Thank you to all the cooks and waitresses there that have kept me and my family fed but if you don’t want to feel like you’re getting skimped on absolutely everything , go somewhere else . Hopefully the owner sees this ( but doubt he will change anything , clearly all about profits even if it means pushing longtime customers away for good) 4 dollars for a drink is criminal to begin with when it likely costs 40 cents. Than to not even offer refills …..yeah I’m done ....
Read moreFirst, they discontinued making their famous french onion soup and it's no longer on the menu. This was the main reason for going to Louie's because it was (in my opinion) the best French Onion soup in Southwestern Ontario. I'm so very disappointed by this decision. If the owners are reading this, I hope you will consider bringing it back or sharing the recipe so I can keep enjoying it at home.
Second; note that this part is more of a social commentary, and not exclusive to Louie's. It cost us $120 (not including tip) for three of us to eat dinner. We ordered battered mushrooms to start, a bowl of macaroni and cheese, a burger with fries, a burger with side salad, a glass of wine, and a glass of beer.
The food was decent and the servers were quite nice, but holy moly that's an insane cost for roadhouse food! It's been a long time since I've dined out but I cannot justify paying those prices for food that I can honestly make - matching quality of the burgers or exceeding quality of the macaroni and cheese - for far less in the comfort of my own home. Again, this isn't exclusive to Louie's as I've seen similar pricing during some recent business trips to the GTA.
I try to support local, but I likely won't be back as I think my days of dining out at restaurants are over. Unless the French Onion soup makes a return, then you may see me again for that.
Two stars due to the discontinued soup and the cost. The two stars are for the nice waitresses and the cooks who...

We traveled from Brampton to visit Louies and it was worth it. Even with ugly 401 snow squalls and blowing snow... it was still worth it. We seen this place on #yougottaeathere and decided that we really did have to eat here. The appearance pulling up was the first "different" thing, it's like pulling into a gas station. Once in and seated we were pleasantly greeted and served quickly. We both decided that we would order a small panzerotti after asking about the "challenge" to eat an 8 lb panzo. Oh my... Knowing the reviews about the panzerotti experience here and seeing the other customers get servings so large they couldn't finish them, we ordered the small panzo's and waited for them to cook. With my back facing the kitchen, I saw my wife's face drop as her eyes opened wide saying "Oh my god... wait for it". The waitress the sat two "small" panzerottis down in front of us that were so massive, they covered half the table. Absolutely incredible! If you were to try and pick them up to eat, you would need a mouth as big as the one on the wall. They were stuffed full of fresh toppings and huge. We seriously gave it a try but only ate half before getting to go containers. I strongly recommend Louies to anyone that is hungry... really hungry. This place is excellent and i'ts easy to see why...
