I recently dined at The Roost Restaurant and I was thoroughly impressed with the overall experience. The dish I ordered was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked shrimp, tender chicken, all complemented by fresh, crispy vegetables like broccoli and cabbage. Run, don't walk away from this dive restraunt. Ordered in person before 7pm tonight. Poutine and cheeseburger. TO GO. They took my number and said they would call when it was finished. Came back at 7:30. Asked if order was ready, they said I'd get a call when it was ready. Sat down next to the guy who ordered right after me. Had lots of time to fully appreciate the decaying walls, ceiling and furniture and listen to staff bickering with each other. After we watched several orders put on the counter with no calls made. The guy next to me finally went up to counter and started looking at completed orders getting cold in trashy brown paper lunch sacks. Guess what, he found his order. I went up and did the same. My order had been there before I came back into the restraunt. Yes I complained, yes they offered to remake it and handed me two free cokes as I left. This place was awesome. My parents split a chicken burger and greek salad. My girlfriend also had a crispy chicken burger. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Sick beats in the restaurant. I had a donair. I’m from the east coast, so i was obviously skeptical about a donair from so far away from Halifax. I was not disappointed. The sauce was similar but not quite as sweet as the east coast version (i liked it). He had just the right amount of sauce on it, not too wet but also not dry. Nothing worse than a dry donair.
