We ordered take out from Nishino Sushi a couple of weeks ago and were extremely disappointed. We will never order food from Nishino Sushi again. At the time of payment, the total was considerably higher than what we had calculated from the website menu. We were told that all the prices had gone up but that they hadn't had time to change the online menu. (The price of each item had sometimes "gone up" by $5.00!!!). The tempura was overcooked and the tempura dipping sauce was clearly not "Japanese". I'm assuming it was their own house recipe. The sushi rice did not have any Japanese vinegar or sugar in it so it was very plain and tasteless. The vegetables in the beef yakisoba were extremely overcooked and mushy. Not to mention, neither the yakisoba sauce nor the noodles were Japanese. The sauce was again most probably some house version. Like most restaurants that claim to be "Japanese", the food was obviously not authentically Japanese but rather some blend of Japanese style food and other Asian food. If this is the case, cool. Fusion food is trendy. But PUT THAT IN YOUR RESTAURANT NAME THEN. Japanese / Vietnamese fusion food" or something to that effect. There is nothing I hate more than ordering Japanese food to find that the soy sauce is a Chinese brand. The gyoza are Korean. The noodles in the yakisoba are from the Phillipines. You get the point. It's no longer "Japanese" food!!!! Like I said at the beginning, I will NEVER eat at Nishino...

We have been to Nishino many times over the past few years, and our recent visit was the best sushi to date. We heard it was under new mgt so thought we would visit again as service and food had slid a bit the last couple years - much due to covid impacts. We prefer dining in the restaurant vs. takeout as the food just tastes better when straight from the kitchen. There are a number of new items on the menu and we always get the sushi dishes. The quality of the sushi was excellent, very fresh and tasty, and rates right up there with the other top places in Kamloops. Food delivery from order to table was very quick despite competing with many takeout orders. The chef/owner (Josh?) is very friendly and came out and chatted with us for a bit. He shared his other menu changes such as including new Korean dishes and other influences. He also mentioned "special/unique" dishes that we could call ahead for i.e. a day or 2 that require added prep time if we wanted to try something different. The young lad serving us did a great job. We were the only ones in at the time (late afternoon) so he was hustling double duty with our table and constant takeout orders. The decor remains unchanged but great to dine in again, and would be good to see this build up to what it was in support of a great local spot. Will be regulars again! ps - waited a bit too long to take the sushi pic....food...

I have never gone to and eaten in the restaurant- but I have ordered delivery a few times. The website advertises delivery is between the hours of 4pm-9pm 7 days a week, but on two occasions during this time I've been told (quite rudely) that either the driver doesn't come in until a later time- or the driver is already out of the restaurant so there's no more delivery for that day. When I brought up this contradiction and inquired as to why the service is not as advertised- the woman on the phone was quite rude/unapologetic and offered no explanation. The deliver guy is quite a nice person- and has been quite apologetic for the confusion at the restaurant. If you order vegetarian the food is good- but the one time i had take-out Salmon it wasn't very fresh tasting. I think if they chose delivery hours to stick to- and hired a new receptionist - it wouldn't be that bad of...

(Edit) The owner is such a great guy, very attentive to customer needs- loved chatting with him. Food was 10/10 sushi was presented very well!! My new favourite sushi place in Kamloops! ~ I went back to try more items and was not disappointed at all! Didn’t think anything was going to top the Mango Avocado Roll but then I tried the Crazy Vegetable Roll and boy was it good! The chef really does put a lot of effort in his ‘art’, I couldn’t stop taking photos of the plate. Also the size of the roll was massive I could barely eat in a single bite. For dessert the chef suggested the Sunshine Roll and it was so tasty omg Food quality is top tier and I will be going back for more!
