I was in this small lakeside town for a cottage night and this family run “chip truck” looking trailer take-out was an eatery that caught my eye. The friendly lady who owns this chip truck was not only fun to chat with, she was also generous by offering us more fries for our fish & chips since she noticed that the 2 pieces fish & chips were going to be shared between 2 people. The fish & chips consisted of freshly battered haddock and chips made out of fresh cut potatoes, a claim that I could definitely believe to be true. To pair your food, she has stocked up with a huge range of sauces ranging from Sriracha to jerk seasoning to your regular Frank’s hot sauce, ketchup and mustard. Even though it’s a takeout only place, you are more than welcome to sit on one of their picnic benches on site to enjoy your food hot & fresh. For $16.50 (taxes included), we were rewarded with 2 pieces of fresh haddock fish & generous portions of fresh cut chips and coleslaw which we chose to enjoy it at the nearby beach across the bridge. 2 people were easily full from the fish & chips and I do not see any reason to fault our food and experience from Kearney Trailside Cookhouse. I look forward to not only returning to this small beautiful quaint lakeside town, but also to having another meal from this eatery beside the lake.

Busy place which tells me its good! My girlfriend and I shared a large poutine, the biggest one I’ve ever seen actually. It was delicious and one of the best poutines, and I’ve been to Quebec lol. The cheese curds and veggie gravy are great, and tons of cool sauces and hot sauces to put on. Great prices and places to sit outside. Definitely good for a quick on the road lunch or to grab a meal and enjoy it there! Would recommend to anyone.

My Fiancé and I got the large poutine, it was huge! Enough to feed a family. But not only was the size exceptional, the quality was as well. Fries were a perfect mix of crunchy and soft, cheese was melted and gravy was delicious, not too salty. One of the best poutines we've ever had by far! To add service was wonderful, we had run out of milk that morning and they generously topped up his coffee!

I'd give zero stars if possible. Was 100% discriminated against. They were fine with me reading the menu at the bottom step and then wouldn't allow me to go on th deck or even place my order because of a mask exemption. We are outside and this treatment was absolutely ridiculous. They told me my children were going to die because I'm not wearing a mask outside. I've always supported this business and will never be back again. I will also be telling everyone I know not to go back. We went down the road to another and had zero issues ordering. Apparently we were the third group of people they had rejects service and diaxrimi ated against this...

We get out to Kearney once every few years and each time we do we're sure to stop in here for some food. The shrimp and chips combo is HUGE and "is better than out east" as the woman I met in line said when I offered her one. The fingers and chips was also massive and amazing. It's a great place to stop with kids too as they have a whole play area set up. (Not that I brought kids with me ) Great food, super nice to talk to, awesome little spot. (All for 20 bucks btw..) Highly recommended.

Update : sept 18 2023

Back again and today got the bacon burger. DELISH. I chose the cheesy bun and am glad I did. Thanks again, see you in...
