Red Canoe Restaurant — Restaurant in Kearney

Incredible! That's the first word that came to mind after my most recent experience at this restaurant. There was a group of 6 of us who came for dinner this past Friday night. We had appetizers, main courses, drinks, and dessert. Bruschetta was absolutely perfect. The balsamic glaze was just the right amount. I've had many bruschettas in my time...and THIS WAS THE BEST I'VE HAD! I hope tit seats on the menu! Also, the portion of calamari was HUGE! I ordered the Braised Beef Shirt Rib. Holy. Cow. Deee-licious! The garlic mashed potatoes and roasted veggies (carrots and parsnips) were excellent. My Aunt gave me a sample of her BBQ ribs. No words... the meat just fell off the bones. The others in my group ordered Fish and Chips and the Bison Smash Burger and said that they were also very tasty.

Thank goodness the Guest of Honour in my group thought ahead and reserved a WHOLE SKOR CHEESECAKE for dessert. Unbelievable. I'm not sure who baked this dessert...but please let them know that the taste was beyond belief. To top off the great experience, the entire restaurant sang Happy Birthday to my Aunt, including the acapella group of 10 men sitting beside us! Such a wonderful experience. And if you're worried about the cost - definitely worth every bite!! Even though I don't know her name, our Server was extremely attentive the whole night...always busy and gliding here and there across the floor, attending to the patrons. Service was fantastic — friendly, attentive, and genuine. The wine was a great deal at $40 a bottle. The appetizer offered excellent value, especially with the freshly fried bread served warm for dipping.

The main course had great flavour and was well-cooked all around; however, the portion of meat felt a bit small. I would have gladly paid more for a larger serving or a double-meat option.

Very disappointing service. We waited for 25 minutes without being served when the restaurant was barely half full. Wanted to order breakfast but ended up only getting 2 coffees to go, we asked one of the servers if she could take our order twice and it seemed she was going out of her way to avoid us and serve every other table except for ours.
