Bistro Certo — Restaurant in L'Île-Perrot

I normally do not write reviews but the terrible experience I had this past Sunday at this establishment has pushed me to do so. We were celebrating a friend's 75th birthday with a group of 12 people and went to Certo's upon one of the attendees recommendation. The restaurant was full as there was another large group there as well. The restaurant only had one server on that night so the service was slow. I ordered the exact same dish as my brother who was sitting next to me and when the food arrived my seafood dish had no mussels while my brother's plate had 8 on his. When I mentioned this to the server was told that the plates aren't always the same yet 2 others in the group had ordered the same dish and they were identical to my brother's dish. Sever never apologized but told me to give them 5 minutes and they would get me some mussels. Upon tasting seafood plate I realized it was so salty I couldn't eat it. My brother's was the same as was the orders for the other person sitting close to me. When the mussels finally arrived they were even saltier than the dish. I spoke to the server and was told that because they weren't served with the main meal's sauce they would taste saltier. I have eaten mussels on their own my entire life and never have I tasted them this salty. I am 68 years old and was a successful businessman who has had fine dining many times in my life. Over the years I have had some bad meals but the restaurant always tried to make up for whatever issue arose. Here the server and owner both gave me and those who complained about the meal attitude. Not what I expected especially when I got the $214 bill for three of us when we only had 2 Caesar's salads and the three mains. No attempt by the administration to give us a discount or even apologize for meals we could not eat. I was very polite in explaining the issues but the attitude I received in return was extremely unprofessional. I will never return to this establishment nor will I ever recommend it to anyone.

We hosted our engagement party at Bistro Certo this past weekend and had the most incredible experience from start to finish. The service was truly exceptional—the staff were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly.

The owner generously allowed us to come in early to set up, which made a world of difference. The team was so accommodating with helping us rearrange tables and chairs to match the aesthetic we were going for, and they had no issue with us bringing in our own decorations, including a welcome sign and a balloon arrangement. They truly made the space feel like our own.

Throughout the evening, the staff remained warm, professional, and sociable. We were able to play music, dance, and fully enjoy the night without ever feeling rushed or restricted. And the food—absolutely delicious. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about it.

Went on a Saturday and we had made reservations for 6 people 1 week in advance for 6:30. To begin the evening, they called at 5:30 to ask us if we can change the time which was abit off. We sat down and everything seemed great! Nice atmosphere, and friendly , welcoming staff. After reading the nice reviews and hoping that it would be anything like the previous establishments this restaurant is tied to we were excited to try it! I love Italian food.. this was not Italian food. After looking through the menu and turning a blind eye to the bread that could have broken a window I decided on a classic “veal piccata” with a side of pasta.. I wish I had taken a picture of the dish I was served but it was definitely NOT what I was expecting.. it was over cooked breaded veal in a soup of oil and butter. when the server approached to clean the table she noticed I had not eaten and was apologetic but when she returned there was absolutely nothing done to satisfy us.. she said the cook has defended this was normal but she said she thought it looked off… Unfortunately something we were excited to try turned out extremely disappointing.
