Went there with my family (6 people) to celebrate my birthday and ended up with a very bad experience. We got there Saturday evening (February 22, 2025), were seated and after waiting over 15 minutes WE had to ask for the menu where we were informed that they only had 3 menus available while the restaurant was almost empty. How do you not have enough menus? The waitress asked if we were ready to order and we told her we needed 2 more minutes. 10 minutes passed by and she still hadn't come back to take our orders. I had to get up and find the waitresses to tell them we were ready. Again, the restaurant was almost empty, what the hell are they so busy with? We ordered and the main dishes took almost 1 hour to arrive. When we informed her of this all she did was shrug her shoulders and blamed it on all the online orders. If you can't handle online orders why are you taking them? Dine in customers should be priority. She didn't even apologize or anything. Very rude. The food came and the rice wasn't even that hot. I honestly think the food was ready and she took her sweet time to bring them to the table because the service was very slow! I even asked her to cancel the chutney order because after I ordered it she disappeared, then came back to take people's order. How hard is it to pour chutney sauce in a plate? It was clear to me that I was going to finish my plate before it arrived to my table. Service was absolute garbage and the waitresses were very slow and have no knowledge of customer service. If I was the owner I would fire them and get waitresses who actually want to work. I will NEVER come...
Read moreWe had been eagerly anticipating the opening of this eatery for months as we heard great things about the DDO location. We were not disappointed.
When we entered the small storefront tucked between Bureau en Gros and the Tabagie on Grand Blvd, we were impressed by the COVID protocols in place but even more impressed by the friendliness of the staff. The gentleman in front was helpful, welcoming and appreciative of our business. He guided us with the menu, which was full of Afghan delicacies, most of which we had never heard of.
We settled on the Sambosa (fried dumpling with ground meat) and Ashak (steamed dumpling filled with leeks) for appetizers, the chicken/lamb combo kebabs and the Quorma Palau (Lamb stew with rice and salad). The owner included 2 delicious hot sauces and some crispy Afghan bread to sop up the delicious Quorma sauce. To say that everything was delicious is an understatement. We particularly loved the homemade depth of flavour of the Quorma. The kebabs were also absolutely delicious and juicy, even after reheating at home. The rice is aromatic and fluffy. Overall, a great meal for a Friday night, or any other evening!
I can only hope that more locals give Aryana a try and help support this new business. They are a welcome addition of culture and unique flavor profile to a neighbourhood full of too many generic food options. I also urge people to please order for pickup so as to fully support their growth without forcing them to yield their profits to a food delivery service.
We look forward to being regular clients of this fantastic...
Read moreRestaurant Aryana exceeds my expectations each and every time! I can't say enough about this truly beautiful family-owned restaurant.!
From the moment one steps into the restaurant, one feels welcomed into their warm, cozy space - a home away from home. I love that the owners/chefs take the time to come out to chat with their customers, adding that personalized touch.
Aryana's menu is varied enough to keep one's curiosity well satisfied and has something for even the most discerning tastes. Their dishes are absolutely delectable, lightly spiced, and refined. Ordering a variety of apetizers to share is always a good idea as it will help maximize the Aryana Experience for all. Their vegetarian and beef Sambosa's, lightly, airy, crispy puff pasty filled with potatoes or beef are one of my favorite appetizers! The lamb is tender and juicy, and I could cut right through my chicken brochette with my fork! Try their homemade iced tea. You'll be glad you did! Have a sweet tooth? Their rice pudding or their Afghan baklava will have your tastebuds singing! Wow!!
Go with an apetite and hold on to your hat for a culinary experience that sets excellent standards for other restaurants to follow! I recommend a call to the restaurant to lock down a reservation, especially if yours is a large group or if the outing is for a special occasion. They made my birthday celebration beautiful and memorable! ✨️♥️
