Updating a review I left about a year ago.
At that moment I felt the place was a bit too cramped and the sushi was ok.
Since then, I've come to appreciate the place a lot more.
Let's get the negative out of the way: the place is still too cramped. I like dinning without hearing what people around me say and like to keep my conversation private. Tables are so close its impossible.
That's it.
Now for the positive.
The broth for all their soups (wonton, pho and tomyum) is simply beyond any other broths. I find myself craving the wonton broth quite often and I tried reproducing it home... To no avail. It has that extra something I never find anywhere else.
The sushi I found to be ok in the past, and I think it's still the case for the "average" sushi IE the ones most people order. But I've now started to get the Chef sushi and the more upscale ones (ex with real snow crab and such) and I've eaten amazingly well. You do get what you pay for!
I have a blank this morning, I'll update butwhen I remember his name (he's the server we see all the time at the restaurant), but our server is one of the reason we now feel so welcome. I've come with both my teenage son and clients and he knows when to treat us like family and when to me more "business" this is very important to me. This is not a "register change" that every wait staff understands, it denotes a business acumen and proves he is very in tune with...
Read moreI dined at your restaurant and, regrettably, encountered an unsatisfactory level of service. Despite the prolonged wait time of 45 minutes for my food, I chose to leave a tip of 10%. However, my attempt to provide feedback was met with an unexpected and unprofessional response from your waitstaff.
One of your waiters approached me to inquire about the tip amount and, in a rather discourteous manner, suggested that I refrain from returning to the restaurant or risk experiencing even longer wait times in the future. Subsequently, when I attempted to discuss the matter with the manager, I was impeded by another waiter who RAISED HIS VOICE and engaged in confrontational behaviour. I believe it is essential to highlight that I do not typically feel compelled to explain my tipping decisions. Nevertheless, I provided an explanation in this instance, only to be met with further hostility. The overall tone of the interaction was VERY RUDE and left me feeling unwelcome. I have considered myself a regular customer and have consistently enjoyed the food there. If you plan on dining there, ensure to leave a tip of at least 15% (even if you are not happy with the food or service) to avoid being approached by the staff in a very rude and unprofessional way. Given today’s encounter, this was my last time dining at...
Read more1× 2 small Imperial roles $7. Well wrapped and perfectly fried but pretty much basic.
1× Kani Age $15. Not impressed at all.
1× Udon beef plus chicken $21+3. A very small portion. Even with extra meat, the amount of meat was almost enough. Tasted okay.
1× Dragon Komodo, Maximus, Soukie, Blue Zento, Jade = $125. Presentation of the sushi was impressive. But the quality of crafting the sushi was poor. They were falling apart and didn't think through the conception process. Sushis are not meant to have in 4 bites. The cuts were uneven and some cuts were not done straight. The rice locked flavor and some toppings were under seasoned. Finally in the flavor was half disappointing. I really enjoyed Maximus, Blue Zento and my wife liked Soukie. I would go back for those dishes.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the quality of the service. The quality of the ingredients and cooking method is high class, but the flavor doesn't match that quality. The udon beef for example, it was not soggy and not overcooked. That was done pretty well. But I had very flavorful udon for $12. The quality and the high standard of the sushi was very disappointing. The sushi artist didn't do a good job crafting the sushi. Besides, the idea of tall sushi is not a good idea. So in this case, it...
