I understand that inflation is impacting small businesses, and I don’t fault them for raising prices. However, I do expect to get good value for what I pay. Recently, I placed an order that included:
5 Cheeseburgers 1 Large Fry 1 Small Poutine Total: $55
Cheeseburgers: The cheeseburgers were disappointing—dry, tasteless, and obviously cooked from frozen. The minimal amount of sautéed onions didn’t help. For $8 per burger, I would expect a 6-ounce patty that’s juicy, with a generous serving of freshly cooked onions.
Large Fry: When I picked up my order, I noticed the "large" fry was far from large. When I questioned it, the staff assured me it was indeed the large size, even offering to show me the small, which was only $1 less. At the very least, the fries should have been overflowing to give the appearance of value. Potatoes aren’t that expensive, and they could have put a bit more effort into making the portion look generous. Unfortunately, the fries were soggy, and the oil they were cooked in clearly needed changing.
Small Poutine: The small poutine was equally disappointing. The container was only half full, the cheese curds tasted old, and fries were soggy. We're in Quebec, the cheese curds in a poutine is suppose to squeek not squish.
It also seems like this place has chosen to focus on offering a wide variety of menu items rather than prioritizing the quality of their food. While I understand the appeal of giving customers plenty of choices, it shouldn’t come at the expense of delivering a satisfying dining experience.
Conclusion: Although higher prices may be necessary due to inflation, customers still deserve quality and value for their money. Unfortunately, my recent experience didn’t live up to those expectations. The food was subpar, and the portion sizes didn’t justify the cost. Offering a wide variety of menu items only matters if they are well-prepared and enjoyable. If businesses choose to raise prices, they should focus on ensuring that both the quality and portions reflect that increase, rather than diluting their efforts with a quantity-over-quality approach. I’m disappointed to say that I won’t be returning, and I’ll be sharing my experience...
Read moreThis one is my favourite. It is our mission to visit all the Casse-Croute in the area (large area). And even though they do not have soft ice cream (they do indeed have other ice cream though).
I enjoy the poutine the most, nice dark, flavourful gravy, lots of cheese, perfectly cooked fries. The mini donuts are done well, the burgers are made from a local butcher and they offer lattes and cappuccinos, etc Friendly staff, good prices, ample parking. But be warned that it sneaks up on you coming off the highway! There are covered picnic tables available to sit...
Read moreI’ve stopped here a few times over the years because I have a cottage in low. Every time I’ve gone, the food is sub par at best. They have no pride in their work and it shows in the food they produce. If you’ve ever experienced a proper Quebec poutine, you’ll know how bad King burgers poutines are. And their homemade pogos that sit out all day and are reheated to order are absolutely disgusting! I can’t imagine anything in the menu is worth trying. Trust me,...
