Resto O'Shack — Restaurant in Lac-Mégantic

Editing to respond to the passive aggressive owners response to our review. We traveled to Lac Megantic for a day trip as residents from nearby Maine. O'shack was a bit of a disappointment even though it was recommended by a super friendly local resident. We ordered the ribs, and you could tell they were old or premaid long before, slathered with old coagulated bbq sauce, and waaaaay over seasoned with chili powder and some kind of seed that just overpowered the flavor. They also committed the #1 mistake of cooking ribs, and left the tough back skin on, which also leaves a kinda gross hot dog flavor, while making it impossible to pull them apart. Poutine was pretty awful as well, with what tasted like brown gravy from a can. The food was the most awful garbage on the planet, but the staff were AMAZING! We struggle with French, but there were 2 incredible women running the whole show! The two female servers were the saving grace, because they were so nice and really helped us with our order and their service was impeccable and attentive throughout the experience. Our server made us a delicious sangria too! We mentioned the quality of the food to the servers, but dont take replacement dishes. I am honest, and consistency it important. Keep your servers, but hire a new chef or work on that food! We'll come back in the spring for something small, to see if it's better! And I would ask the owner, who on the planet keeps gross back skin on ribs? Where was the response to the specifics, because your servers can't change how poorly the food is actually made. I gave clear compliments to the servers, so this was not a completely negative and fair review, and I wish the owner valued his severs enough to acknowledge the compliments. However, based on the response to the honest review of the food we were served, we won't be back. We suspect the same passive aggressive owner operates Musi-cafe, and I wouldn't recommend...

I personally enjoyed this place, though others in my group were underwhelmed with the food. I had the rosé burger, suggested by the waitress, and both it and the fries were excellent. Some of the other items like the onion soup (too sweet) and the fish and chips were average. The fries with the fish and chips were different than with the burger and not as good. The kids enjoyed their kids meals. Prices are reasonable and the service was excellent. I'd definitely go back if ever I'm in the area again. I'll stick with the burgers tho. We had a plate of tartar and their signature poutine.

The tartar portion was so ridiculously small it was almost insulting. It came in one of those little plastic cups that Thai Express use to serve dipping sauce 😅

The poutine contains ground beef and it had a noticeable "freezer" taste and it was obvious that it had not been browned whatsoever. I also doubt any seasoning had been added to it. Furthermore, the gravy was extremely thick and had no taste whatsoever, it was just all very bland and sad tbh.
