Restaurant du Boisé — Restaurant in Les Bergeronnes

My family was coming from out of town and were looking for a good place to get seafood and considering this had a 4.7 we thought this was the place. We ordered the whole lobster, the calamari, the cod fillet which was the signature dish and the fish and chips. First the calamari was the worst i'd ever had. When served we could immediately tell they were no good, the breading was terrible and they were definitely frozen but I thought the mains would be better. Very gald our waiter was honest about the lobster being frozen but for $75 for a pound and half of lobster it was terrible. So over cooked some parts were not edible. The fish and chips were probably the best thing we got but the fries lacked salt. The cod was very salty. The rice served with the cod and lobster was literally boiled rice with no flavor and was slightly hard. The salad was definitely a grocery store bagged salad. We ended up spending $187 without tip and gave a $30 tip. I never write reviews but for those price it was unacceptable. There is no chef in that kitchen. We were in the area whale watching and decided on Restaurant du Boisé based on previous reviews. We didn't realize reservations were required when we arrived. Since it was early into the supper hour we thought we would enquire as to seating availability. We got lucky and were seated right away. We realize this is probably an exception to the rule and being low season and a Monday. We couldn't have been happier to get seated and it was greatly appreciated. We both ordered the 10oz striploin with fries, salad and pepper sauce. We also ordered a side of Nordic shrimp with garlic butter. It was all fantastic! Best steak I have had in a restaurant in awhile. Cooked perfectly and the pepper sauce was very tasty as well. I finished my plate before realizing I forgot to take a photo :( We were so full we had no room for what I am sure would have been an awesome dessert. I have the chance to try this very nice restaurant visiting the small village of Bergeronne to do the famous whales watching tour the day after. I have to say that the food was very good! Especially the chowder and the salmon, which I definitely recommend. A negative notice the fact that we have been relegated in a very narrow area outside the main restaurant area and the treatment received at the moment to pay, where I have been blaimed not having add any tip in a quite rude way. I would like to say that if you allow the option to avoid leaving any tip, I am absolutely free to select it...if this is not right for you, remove that option..also, as a tourist I didn't know that the tip was mandatory.
