I can’t say that this was the worst dining experience that I have ever had. We were with good friends, the venue (the small barn) was extremely nice and the house band (The Permtones) were amazing. Unfortunately that’s where the positive points of the experience end. I should state that the young waitress that we had was trying her best in an uncomfortable situation. The food was ok however I would certainly not consider it good value for the money paid. There are lots of restaurants around that aren’t the greatest value but it was the management and their rude and deceptive nature that left the truly bad taste in my mouth. I can say without a doubt that I will never visit again and I would never recommend this restaurant to locals or any out of town visitors. When our friend’s order was served out of the requested sequence (she ordered a salad first and muscles as a main) the hostess lied straight to her face in front of all of us and told her that “these are the last muscles left on the premises and you can either eat them or else I will have to take them to the kitchen and throw them out.” Imagine our surprise when a waitress walked to the table next to us 45 minutes later with an order of muscles. We brought this to the hostesses attention but she back pedalled and argued with us and told a few more lies about the other table having ordered them before us. They were seated after us and although I do not profess to be a professional chef the last time I checked it didn’t take 45 minutes to cook muscles. The other interesting point was that we discovered that the hostess went and talked to the owner who was sitting across the dining room at the time. The owner obviously did not feel that customer satisfaction was important enough to make the effort to get out of her chair and come speak with us. I guess business must be extremely good.
Dear Ms. Business Owner. If this is your attitude and your staff’s attitude towards customers then good luck in your future as a restaurateur. There are a lot of nice restaurants in Niagara and a complacent owner with regards to customer service...
Read moreWe visited Honsberger for a birthday on a random weeknight in the summer. The main things that I want to highlight are the incredible woodfired pizzas, the excellent live music which made the atmosphere incredible, and the excellent service, including Winston the Cat and the sheeps.
Starting with the food - our food was incredibly well made and delicious. Pictured in my review are the cup n char pepperoni pizza, the margarita pizza, the falafel bowl, and a couple of the wine options. The pizza in particular was incredible. As someone who has eaten many pizzas, from frozen to authentically Neapolitan pizza, this pizza is up there. I actually had the margarita pizza and I have some regrets because LOOK at the pepperoni pizza. It doesn't get much better than that. All of the others enjoyed their food and drinks as well. I had the lemonade.
The atmosphere was excellent as well, with 2 fellas playing live music - an electric guitar and a piano. They added enormous vibes to the evening - they were playing super chill tunes, nothing too major or loud which was lovely. Where they weren't playing, the background music was nice as well. The vibe of this location was incredible as well - very quiet little farm/patio vibe. Rustic, but nice.
Finally the service. Our server was quick and polite. She also gave us some history on the place, and introduced us to what was arguably the best part of the evening - Winston. Winston is a cat, and he was a total vibe - patiently guarding the door where the servers were coming in and out of. They also had sheep and alpacas - i learned later on that they are actually the ones responsible for ground maintenance, which is excellent. They seemed to do a good job. Sadly, the chickens were all asleep. But I am sure they would have been good too.
All in all, good times, good food. Will be returning to HOUSE a...
Read moreOver the years, we have all had good and horrible services and experiences. Unfortunately, it is usually when we have a bad situation that we take the time to complain. Well the service and staff at Honsberger Estates went above and beyond when it comes to customer service. Britanny and her Mom along with the rest of the staff were always approachable and wanting to help. On various occasions we dropped by the venue to show family and friends, and Britanny welcomed us like a family member would. Not only did the barn and the grounds for the wedding look just picture perfect, they never hesitated to offer items that any other venue would offer "at an additional price". My daughter Seana and her husband Matt had the wedding of her dreams and I do believe Britanny had something to do with that. As most wedding go, there are bound to be snags, in our case it was with the caterer, they were somewhat negligent...Britanny sorted it, albeit it wasn't part of her job, but she jumped right in with a solution....Thank you Britanny!!!
I have been to many lovely "barn weddings" Honsberger Estates blew everyone else out of the water. As it would happen, many of our guests come up to me and mentioned that they attended barn weddings and this place was head and shoulder above the rest.
If you are looking for a wedding venue, the old Victorian house is beautiful, the gardens and vineyards are just perfectly tended to, the barn itself has so much charm and character....honestly I can go on and on.
We come from Ajax Ontario, and initially thought it would be a bit of a long drive for ourselves and our guests.....Oh no, it was well worth the...
