TL;DR - Food is great, but book a reservation because it gets busy here and seating is limited.
After checking out of our hotel in Niagara Falls around noon we had 2 choices: eat at one of the overpriced tourist traps that surround the falls, or drive a little ways away to get a quality meal for a great price, and that's exactly what the Revalee provided.
We ordered the lobster Benedict and the Revalee Classic with truffle infused potatoes. I typically don't care for brunch - I find it's usually just an overpriced breakfast that never leaves me full, but the meals here are incredible and, to me, a great value. The Revalee Classic contained a 2-egg omelette with aged cheddar cheese, bacon, hand-made sausage, perfectly crunchy rosti potatoes, French toast with syrup, and a yogurt parfait, all for $20. I added the truffle infused, parmesan potatoes for an additional $7 and was very happy I did - they were smashed potatoes with a truffle aioli covered in grated parmesan cheese (the real stuff, not that powdered crap). I'm a pretty big guy - 6' tall and over 200lbs, but this meal filled me up and left me satisfied. The Lobster Benedict was also very good from what I tried off my wife's plate. I always find the weakest part of eggs Benedict is the English muffin which is why I was pleasantly surprised that they forego that and instead use smashed potatoes which is much better. I had a nice cup of black coffee and my wife had the Niagara Sunrise tea, which was a sweet blend of rooibos, grape skins from local vineyards, lavender, rose, blueberries and sunflower petals. It was served in a large loose leaf teapot and smelled incredible. My wife ordered honey as a sweetener and received this adorable little jar of wildflower honey. All in, the meal was $65 and my wife took home most of the Benedict and a large cup of tea. Considering I once spent $70 at friggin IHOP on a business trip (the one by the Embassy Suites which gouges the crap out of tourists), I'd say this was an incredible value and several leagues above other comparable breakfast places in Niagara in terms of quality.
The location is very convenient for anyone who lives in the GTA and is visiting Niagara as it's right off the QEW. It was hardly a detour at all as we were heading that way to go home anyways. The restaurant itself though is very small, so it might be best to book a reservation if you're planning on visiting during peak times like we did. We arrived around 12:30 on a Saturday and the restaurant was very full. The employee who greeted us immediately asked if we had a reservation. When I said "no" the contemplative look on her face told me that I probably should have. Luckily she was able to squeeze us into a small table in a walkway which was perfectly serviceable. I don't hold this as a point against the restaurant as it was purely poor planning on my part and we were able to be seated right away.
The service was excellent - our server was very friendly and efficient. He quickly got our orders in and checked in on us twice during the short time we were there. I paid via credit card on the machine and he must have entered $0 for the tip because the machine didn't even ask if I wanted to add a tip (I gave him one anyways in cash because he was so good).
All in all, this restaurant's high ratings are completely earned and far exceeded our expectations. I'll be sure to stop by again next time we're in Niagara - but I'll be sure to book a...
Read moreHave been here quite a few times and usually really enjoy everything, however my experience last weekend was not the best. I raved about this place to my boyfriend and finally convinced him to come along after showing him all the amazing pictures/ meals I have had from previous trips. Unfortunately the portions we received were significantly smaller than what I have ever had before and even compared to tables beside us who ordered the same thing. The french toast we received with the Revalee Classic (upgraded to the seasonal special for $4 more) came with two 1 inch circular pieces of bread (I am seriously not exaggerating --- they looked like croutons). Those beside us clearly received one larger piece of bread cut in half with the same meal (as I have in the past), so whether we just got unlucky and were given the end nubs of the loaf, I don't know.. Even the egg portion was about half the amount from my previous experiences (had my picture from last year pulled up to compare because I was so confused). Essentially we had to go home and have a snack afterwards. Additionally, for whatever reason we were charged $11 per mimosa when the menu said ~ $9.50. Unfortunately I did not realize until after I had paid though. Food was still tasty and our server was very nice, however this has put me off returning for a...
Read moreI’ve been to Revalee Cafè many times and rave about it to my friends and family. I usually have a pleasant experience every time- the food is delish and the staff are friendly. However, today’s experience was very different. We were seated immediately which was great- a little after our mains came we ordered a cappuccino. The server brought it back in a “to-go” cup, confused we asked why it was in a “to-go” cup? She let us know that it was because we had to leave in the next 5 minutes because the next reservation was here. Confused again, we explained that we weren’t aware of this and should have been informed before we were seated. We were all travelling from different areas and wanted to spend more than a half hour together. Another server came by and let us know again that the other reservation was here and again we only had 5 minutes (basically kicking us out?). We got the rest of the food in a box and left quickly feeling rushed, a bit frustrated and embarrassed. No apology for double booking the time slot? No better solution to come up with? Had we not asked about the “to-go” cup what would have happened? What a unfortunate way to end such a pleasant breakfast. So disappointed in the way the staff handled this. And was so embarrassed to have been the one to recommend the spot for our reunion.
