Unfortunately, there wasn't anything great about the experience here except the hostess. She was super nice, 10/10! Our waitress was nice at the start, but towards the end, she seemed sour because I did let her know the food wasn’t great. Before I get into it, I do want to say that I’ve worked as a waiter before, so I was being as nice as possible when letting them know about my food.
I had the chicken cordon bleu, which wasn’t bad. However, I ordered the side Cesar salad. The salad that I got was almost like a cool ranch bbq dressing. I mentioned to the waitress that I think they swapped my salad on accident, and she said that was the chef's Cesar’s dressing. I asked if they could just make a regular Cesar salad, but they said no, and they brought me fries instead, which I said I was okay with. Now, the fries were inedible as they were just coated in seasoning salt. Way overdressed! My grandma had the fries with her chicken Parmesan (which she said was good), and her fries were properly seasoned.
I’m assuming the manager, Steven, came over to ask what was wrong with the salad first, and I politely said it didn’t taste like a Cesar sauce. He didn’t look too happy. Then when I didn’t eat my fries, he came over again, really not looking that friendly. I just said they were inedible because they were so over-seasoned with the seasoning salt that I couldn’t eat them. He did offer a free dessert, but at this point, I had lost my appetite, so my grandma got a piece of carrot cake. Which she said wasn't the best. She also swears on the menu it said it came with a scoop of ice cream, but it didn't. So, I'm glad I dodged the dessert.
When our bill came, the waitress was so sour, it was a huge turn-off. She came, handed us the machine, said our total, asked if we wanted a receipt, and just whipped around and walked away. I was actually pretty shocked because I made sure I was nice the whole time because I know one rude customer can ruin someone’s night.
I personally have never treated customers differently unless they were absolutely rude and horrible. I hope they can turn this...
Read moreThis review is from our second visit here in two weeks. We came back after having a fairly positive and smooth experience.
First visit: great server (Michael?), seated right away, Werner Schnitzel and pickerel were decent. Potatoes lacked flavour but fries were seasoned well. The Apple strudel for dessert was decent.
Second visit: went yesterday, seated promptly, our server - male server again, was super rushed and brought our drinks. Asked for lemon with my water and it was forgotten. He then came to tell us he was transitioning us to another (female) server but he’d take and put in our order- calamari to start and 3 mains. About 40 mi a goes by- no visit from the bed server, no app. We finally flag her down to ask and she says she forgot to ring in our app but not the meals. Rushes off without asking about refills. Our meals come before the app and looks like they’d say under the heat lamp for a while. My maple glazed salmon had a skin over it. The other two dishes were schnitzel - they were both completely different sizes. Underneath them were undercooked, carrots, and overcooked, cauliflower, and broccoli. Our calamari came - the “harissa” sauce was shrimp Cocktail sauce. We asked for a different dip when ordering, had to ask again. Our plates sat in front of us long after we finished then had to flag her down once more for the bill. She rushed an apology and laughed off how busy it was.
Another table jokingly asked if we could get their bill too. One family asked for their bill when the food came, they’d been waiting for so long.
What appears to be the owner is a man who doesn’t circulate the dining room, and just smiles. It’s a shame that this place is so under staffed every time we visit and the servers look like they’re running ragged. It’s not a good look. This place has a lot of potential given its location and interior, but the food quality and service needs to get WAY better. For a $200 bill it was not worth the money- and sadly no offer for...
Read moreWe went to SCH last night to enjoy a nice meal, like we have for the last 20 years and, unfortunately that did not happen. The menu has changed, so less Swiss type meals and more general, run of tbe mill type. The restaurant has been spruced up some inside, but no pictures on the tv of Switzerland and I hope you enjoy Country music. An hour and a half after placing our order and being promised three times over 30 minutes that it 'would just be another couple of minutes', we finally got up to leave. Thank goodness we asked for our grandson's meal to come before ours. Even then, the fries were under cooked and cooked in old oil, but luckily the chicken nuggets were cooked. Also, it wasn't at all busy. There was one other couple there before us and they got their food about a half hour after we arrived. When we went to pay, Lisa, the owner?, manager? tried to make it right by not charging us for our drinks and was going to give us our food to go as it was ready, just needed to be boxed up. This discussion went on to for about five minutes; us saying we weren't there to take advantage and didn't want what we hadn't paid for, but she was insistent and wanted to make it right and said she would go and get it for us, just give her four minutes. Well, we took our grandson out to the vehicle, two of us went back in to get the food, having had another five or six minutes pass and still no food, so we left.
Very, very disappointing. I hope they can get their act together quickly, find a cook that can actually cook and produce food in a timely fashion or else they are just going to have a very nice building...
