Best summer foodie experience so far! Fish Out Of Water Acadian Kitchen food truck located in Margaree at Live Life InTents. The Salt Pork Fries are worth the drive alone. The topping is take on a boiled dinner - crispy salt pork with a mustard hollandaise sauce, pickled sweet/sour cabbage and green onions on homemade fries. They should brand these as Cape Breton Poutine. Eat dessert first - molasses donut bites. Like a molasses/ginger cake with hot molasses sauce - amazing. The rhubarb pie is crazy good - this chef can bake! Fish cakes and crab croquettes were yummy - well cooked and the fennel salad made a great pair. A little more seasoning in the crab cakes would make this a perfect summertime take away but I like my seafood salty. The chef will package up frozen Tourtiere hand pies to bake at home, these have traditional Acadian spice and were yummy. Put this stop on your Cabot Trail - West Side of the island tour and follow on Facebook and Instagram - support local.

You gotta try this place! We came on their opening day based on and were not disappointed! Right off the cabot trail, you need to pay attention for the sign as it’s hard to miss. We got the fish cakes, tourtiere and lobster rolls and my favourite was the tourtiere and my mom LOVED the lobster rolls! I hummed and hawed over more food and went back for the croquettes and was so glad i did. New favourite on the menu! I can’t believe I almost missed them! The rhubarb cake was perfection-I even got a second slice to go. I would highly recommend eating the menu! Everything was so flavourful and amazing. My mom and I split everything and it was the perfect amount of food. Don’t pass this truck up! YUM!

Wow! This should be on your to-do list. Conviently located along the Cabot trail, in a super stunning and friendly environment - you're instantly happy. Then you are greeted by two superhumans who whip you up an incredible array of delicious food. We arrived just at the end of a busy weekend and snagged the last lobster rolls, some pork fries, crab croquettes, and ABSOLUTLEY FERAL molasses bites (I drank the leftover sauce and would highly recommend). We missed out on the pies and fishcakes but our kind table neighbours gave us a sample and yes, they too rocked my socks. Just go, would ya?

The Gods ascended from the heavens and with them brought the magic of Acadian cuisine. Upon their altar, Julia was anointed as their high priestess and now spreads the flavor like a divine culinary evangelist.

I often forget the sense of ease and comfort that Acadian dishes bring to my soul. I am reminded of this each time I visit Fish Out of Water. Do yourself a favor and get a set of those delicious Molasses Balls!

It is truly amazing how much food this place pumps out in one service! Julia and Taylor and their team are doing the work of the Gods. If the Gods ever get tired of celestial banquets, they could easily start a new religion centered around Fish Out of Water’s portions. It’s like they’re trying to single-handedly prove that gluttony is not just a deadly sin but a...
