This used to be a very good restaurant. We visited the area after being away 2 years, anxious for a quality meal and were very disappointed. The meal was mediocre - no better than anywhere else. I had a hot hamburger sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. The gravy was so thick that it just sat there like a soft lump on top of my food. And they served the sandwich open-faced so it wasn't actually a hot sandwich. Potatoes okay but not great. They grow their own vegetables which I always loved about them, but this time they were very unappealing on the plate (don't know why - some burnt maybe?). My husband ordered the special, which this time was roast beef. He always loved their specials because you got a nice generous plate of home cooking. This time, his beef was very thinly sliced and tough. The same gravy as mine was on his. They are known for their wonderful baking. Even though I was very disappointed with the meal and won't be going back, I remembered how good their baking was, so at the checkout I purchased 2 butter tarts. Later, we enjoyed them very much, so they've still stayed true to that. We discussed with our daughter later, who lives in the area and she said she doesn't eat there any more. As an aside and maybe this wouldn't bother others, but their new restaurant is much larger than their previous one and has a cement floor, so when there are a lot of people in there, it's VERY noisy! Last: the customer service was excellent. The servers were friendly, polite and attentive. The baking and service changed my rating...

Let’s start a movement for truck drivers on the road in desperate needs of safe parking space, restaurants that will provide take out foods, washroom and parking. We are in desperate need of that information across North America. Such information will help us plan our trip safer.

We are front line workers at high risk of infection. Yes we are alone in our trucks when we are heading to our destination but some of us are doing 5, 10, 15 and more deliveries per trip and are in contact with many people everywhere across the continent. Most of the warehouses, factories, shops and stores do not allow drivers to go in the building, witch is the write thing to do these days but we still need access to washrooms. Portable toilets could be provided in some places. Thanks to the government of Ontario for setting up portable toilets at plows turnaround on Hwy 17, The government of Quebec has opened up there rest area earlier than normal to accommodate truck drivers. It’s actions like these that makes a difference.

We need your help, we need your support.

Let’s start with the first post, ( maybe somebody smart out there can gather all the posts and start a web site or something with the informations). First one is Kates Kountry Kitchen restaurant on Ontario Hwy 17 just west of Warren. Beautiful place, great people, excellent food, lots of parking space and wash room available.

Let’s not forget those that are helping us today when things get back to...

Very noisey and hard to hear or talk, busy place surprisingly, or took a while to get service once sat, the server was amazing and food didn't take long once order taken.

The portions are reasonable sized for sure so a higher ranking there.

Gravy was too salty maybe just the day. It doesn't add to the meal when like that it over takes the hot sandwich & poutine taste and less enjoyable. The poutine was warm , not enough to melt curds and not much curds, I suggest the shredded cheese option? The hot sandwich was very hot, not as usual as normally warmed up then topped.

The special was just not my cup of tea. I was expecting a cheese sauce. Found out it was possible tumeric in the roux, not a well described special. Also the carrots were boiled with the turnip, so though not mashed tasted like turnip yuck for me. Again this dish maybe someone else would give a 5 star just not me. Sadly with it being a bake, the spices were in the chicken so you couldn't even scrap the sauce off and eat chicken, just not my night.

The stuffing was good and the loaded baked potatoe was a good size. Due to that I didn't go away hungry, just my choice of going with out protien as the waiter offered to get me something else but I knew I wouldn't finish it after the...

I really don’t like leaving negative reviews, but I think it’s important to share experiences - both positive and negative. I was excited about trying Kate’ Kountry Kitchen - it came on the recommendation of a friend and they said we would be impressed - we were not. First off they must not monitor their google account because the account suggested that it was less busy than usual - it was busy. The had a beeper system for seating but were allowing people to jump the line and butt - and when informed they did nothing about it - have to say it was very frustrating watching those who didn’t have the class or decency to wait in line getting served before us. We waited for nearly 40 minutes - I’d hate to see anything beyond ā€˜less busy than usual’ The server was nice and got our drinks fairly quick, but it was another 30 minutes before we got our food. Food was bland and okay at best. I had the trucker special and the home fries had more of a boiled texture than fried. Overall very disappointing experience.

The food is excellent and staff/management very friendly. It’s clean and inviting with a great collection of gourmet pantry items and frozen meats from the local Mennonite community. I had to ask about the three ā€œK’sā€ in the Kates Kountry Kitchen name. It turns out Kate was a young Mennonite woman who was great in the kitchen but very innocent in ways of the world outside of her community. She had come up with what she thought was a cute name for her new cafe. When her outsider brother-in-law explained meaning of the acronym you can imagine Kate’s horror. Unfortunately all paperwork had gone through and signage ordered. It turns out I was not the first person to ask about it, and there is absolutely no connection or hidden message, just great home cooked food and welcoming people. Will definitely be adding this stop on my return trip west.

Our new favorite fully accessible restaurant that we will most definitely go out of our way to visit again. I met the lovely lady who owns this business, Kate. I had to thank her for ensuring it is fully accessible to everyone regardless of ability or age. Some places simply do the minimum, and others like Kate understand the importance and make you go wow as soon as you enter the property and enjoy the facilities. The food is the best and most unbelievable home-made, like I remember from my grandmother's kitchens. Staff are super friendly and helpful in every possible way. My wife and I thank you all for a wonderful experience. We are now 200km away but still talking about the place itself, the building, and the staff as well looking forward to our return. An excuse to visit my cousin Malcolm more often.
