Rockford Restaurant — Restaurant in Meaford

I drove past this restaurant many times and always told myself I would stop there one day. Its highly rated on Google too! Unfortunately, I have no idea why. Maybe the standards around here are lower due to lack of options but I will not return, nor will I recommend this place.

I was unable to enjoy my meal because every 5-10 seconds I was swatting away numerous flies. There would be two on the table and one in my glass and one more hovering over my plate all at once. It was disgusting and I should have left. But alas, I just had to try it. Portion size was good for the price but the food itself was only mediocre. Cold mashed potatoes like others have commented.

But there is a chance at redemption! Dessert! All the reviews said to save room for dessert, so I did. With no exaggeration, it was the absolute worst pie I have ever had. Served ice cold, straight from the fridge with a spoon for you to attempt to carve it up. If it was a homemade pie, the piemaker should just give up now. Way, WAY too thick of a crust for someone to try to eat with a spoon. It may have been a shortbread crust instead of pastry, I couldn't even tell what it was supposed to be. It was hard and dry. The filling seemed to be canned fruit with plain gelatin barely even mixed in. That's what I love when eating pie: translucent flavourless goop.

"Fast, friendly and attentive service. Serving size and pricing incredible. We both had the tasty schnitzel. Mine had the most delicious mushroom cream sauce. I'm not a big fan of restaurant vegetables but these were fresh not frozen and roasted to a sweet perfection. Never knew radishes could taste so good. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were confronted by a very unpleasant, older, short haired blonde woman. She seemed upset at everything and everyone and I imagine her face would have cracked if she had attempted a smile. Don't like customer service, then get a different job. I ordered the same schnitzel as our previous visit. This time the paper-thin meat was overdone, and the mushroom sauce was some nasty thick gelatinous and sparse afterthought. The few roasted vegetables we got were still good, but not enough to save the meal. Tried a piece of "homemade" coconut cream pie. Horrible, artificial...

I cannot comment on food as we did not order anything.We were on our way to Tobermary and decided to have lunch here. The moment we entered the restaurant we were directed to a table very rudely.The same server came with a menu.Every interaction we had with her she made us very uncomfortable and we immediately realized that we are dealing with a racist person here. I am a Canadian citizen and has been in this country for the last 15 years and have never come across any of such behaviour from a fellow Canadian. I always like to review the restaurants I have visited especially the good ones, the bad ones I avoid .This is the first time I am giving a bad review for anybody as I felt the behaviour was horrible and need to be addressed. We walked out of the restaurant clearly communicating our reasons to do. If the owners are reading this review please put a board outside of your restaurant that u are only happy serving the whites and people like me will be saved from such behaviour!!!...
