With much sorrow I must preface this dire review under turbulent gastrointestinal circumstances.
Alas, I beseech thee to lend thine ear to my lamentations upon the dismal state of our wretched poutine, a vile concoction that doth defy culinary sensibilities and maketh one's palate weep with sorrow.
In truth, this detestable dish, comprised of lamentable amalgamations, hath fallen from grace, bereft of any hint of the sublime. The humble potato, once noble in its simplicity, is now ensnared in an odious alliance with lackluster cheese curds and a revolting torrent of insipid gravy. Verily, it is a culinary calamity of grand proportions, fit for the pitiful consumption of swine rather than discerning human tongues.
Oh, the travesty that hath befallen this once-glorious treat! No longer doth it evoke the divine joy of yore, but instead, it lays bare the depths of our culinary decadence. Its very presence upon the table doth darken the ambiance, casting a shadow of dismay upon the feast.
Thus, I implore thee, let us cast aside this odious affront to gastronomy, and seeketh the resurgence of true culinary splendor. May we reclaim the glory of our forefathers' fare and eschew the travesty that is our lamentable poutine. For in its deplorable state, it doth taint our palates and bring shame upon our once-proud traditions. Let us be resolute in our pursuit of excellence, lest our gustatory heritage be forever marred by the memory of...
Read moreToday (March 22, 2025) I ordered the fish n’ chips for the first time. I am watching my salt intake (doctor’s orders) so when I got my plate I was chagrined to see that the accompanying salad/coleslaw/tomato that came with the one tiny, sorry piece of breaded fish, that obviously came frozen out of a box, had shaved cheese sprinkled all over. I brought the food plate back to the counter and asked if the cook could replace the salad/coleslaw/ tomato with the shaved cheese with another order of salad/coleslaw/tomato - but no cheese. I was shocked to see the female cook take my plate, dump the salad/coleslaw/tomato and replace the three ingredients by reaching into her bowl of salad with her bare hands and putting it on my plate. She then did the same with the coleslaw and tomato, all done with her bare hands. As I watched I was grossed out. I complained to to the woman who took my order and recommended that the cook should have used a serving spoon, She replied “her hands are clean”.. I didn’t make a fuss and just brought my food back to my table and ate it reluctantly all the while telling my wife just how much I didn’t enjoy the meal. Gregoire’s used to have great quality control but it’s obviously slipping. Were her hands really clean? I’ll never know, but if i get a scratchy throat tomorrow I may come back and speak to the...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised by this place. The service was honestly unrivaled for this type of restaurant (la belle province type of place but kind of more upscale). Employees opening doors, people at the cash are curteous, they won't accept any tips (even though they deserve it), they give you a little device that vibrates when the order is ready because on busy days you can wait up to 30 minutes for your order. They asked if I had placed an order through the phone, which I didn't know you could do, so probably best to do that on busy days.
We had poutines and onion rings. The poutine was delicious. The cheese was sliced horizontaly, which is unusual, but it was probably some of the best cheese i've tasted in any poutine. The gravy was very light on the salt and had a nice beefy taste and light brown color. The homemade fries were thinner than most places similar to this one but still great. They give you very generous ammounts of cheese and fries, but the cheese isn't double layered. The onion rings were great. To top that all off, the prices were very affordable for the ammount and quality of food you are getting.
The place itself is quite nice indoors and there are nunerous tables on the terasse that surround the building.
I would highly recommend...
