We were a group of 5 people and booked our dinner through a website. We arrived there 15 minutes late (due to bad weather + longer route than anticipated) when we arrived, we waiting in the lobby for at another 20 minutes. There was a line up and only one lady at the front. We still decided to have some good time while waiting so we were taking pictures and looking around while waiting in line. When it came to our turn, the lady rudely gave us a seat, telling us that we were late and that normally we wouldn’t get seated. A bit confused with her attitude, we proceed to seat to our assigned table. The table wasn’t cleaned so we needed to call a waiter who came quickly and cleaned the table. We told them we don’t eat pork, and they told us that the food will take more time because of this restriction. The new plates weren’t really clean. Again, we understand and everything is done and said respectfully. However, the food would only come when we would ask, we would need to get up every time we needed a waiter. They gave us soup with bacon in there and a plate of pork rinds with no respect to what we asked them beforehand. The food was not great and the place was expensive! I’m still giving three stars for the animals, and the truck ride. Otherwise, we would’ve been very disappointed.

A quintessential part of any trip to Quebec. A "sugar shack" is a pretty simple premise; a functional maple syrup refining farm almost untouched since the early 70s. It's a rather quiet and unassuming building with a bare bones staff that manages to remain warm and welcoming. It's essentially a prix fixe menu where everyone gets the same thing, though you can opt for coffee or slushies as well. You're treated to a multi course meal of traditional québécois favorites, (everything from pea soup, mini pork rinds, plates of thick cut bacon, tarte au sucre, and pudding chomeur, just to name a few) and a jug of maple syrup to pour over all of it. With the range of treats on hand everyone will find something they like, and then you can top it all off with "tire sur la neige" and the small petting zoo put back. High recommendation.

Fun, airy atmosphere. Service was friendly, with a smile and for the most part quick. Food was delicious. Pretty much what you'd expect for a sugar shack. Could of had some music playing in the waiting room to add a livelier festive dance mood. The kids burnt off alot of energy playing in the park. I was very impressed with play structures they had. The fire pits helped the adults stay warm while we kept an eye on the kids. And the small petting zoo was a nice touch. I found the tractor ride around the sugar shack grounds to be too short. But I suppose it was a good thing to limit the exposure of exhaust fumes for the kids riding in front of the wagon hehehe... It certainly was a great day here for my family and colleagues from work.

We arrived early and stood around, confusion with no order in getting in with others leaving from previous seating. Pickles, beets, maple syrup on table..jug of water came later..no glasses, just a coffee cup but no coffee or milk until we asked into our meal. pea soup was good but could have been warmer, bread very good creton a little grainy, omelet ok basically scrambled eggs cooked in a large chaffing dish tray, ham very good, sausage just cut up hot dogs in syrup, not as some other comments said real sausage here, not true. bacon not edible asked waitress she brought more same horrible aftertaste at least she explained that it is deep fried in the same grease as the pork rinds which were very good. beans good, fried potato a little disappointing and other potato bland and tasteless. they brought more food as requested and service was very good. Dessert tiny thin crepe/pancakes, pudding chommeur good, sugar pie excellent, and other pound cake with the sucre a la creme ok .. overall we enjoyed it as a normal cabane a sucre meal...the ratings are very over rated..it is good, clean but nothing spectacular or as some raters say the best..please people you really need to get out there if you think this is the

best..I would go again maybe in 3 to 5 years but other than that it was ok. The staff very hard working and very pleasant and attentive. the place is clean even the washrooms are very well kept up. Thanks for the experience..my comments are honest..The sugar on snow very good and the tractor ride was enjoyable..The young man driving was very nice and pleasant the petting zoo well a few animal not...

It most certainly ranks as one of my top five sugar shacks I have been to. The food was excellent and the wait staff was attentive and on the ball, including Veronique who let us know that it was her second day and apologized in advance if she did not know the answers to all of our questions. We showed up in a group of 15 people and everyone happily left with overstuffed bellies. However the wait to get our table, even with a reservation was ridiculously long. We had a reservation for 1PM and finally we got to our table at 1:55. It was finally at 1:40 that the host decided to take some action to help encourage existing customers to pay and allow their tables to be occupied by the next group of hungry visitors.

Everything was excellent, the best oreille de cris and ham that I have ever had at any of these joints. The only complaints at the table were regarding the soup that was fairly bland and the bacon was a bit too crispy.

If it weren't for the issue with the extended wait, I would have given it 5 stars and would most certainly be back next year with our...
