Colosse Smokehouse — Restaurant in Montmagny

Gorgeous location, vaulted ceilings, immaculately cleaned, what looked like a sweet patio connected with a large garage door for opening on nice days and modern decor.

We grabbed some quick takeout staying in Montmagny for the evening. Tried the smoked meat sandwich and the brisket. Bread could have been a bit fresher, but the smoked meat was delicious. A bit on the dry side but I still enjoyed my meal. The brisket was lacking in fat, nice sized piece of meat just didn't have that good oily flavor that fat provides for the perfect brisket. The fires both normal and Cajun were crispy and delicious. Overall satisfied with the meals and very pleased with the service...

Tried the pulled pork with the Chipotle sauce. My wife had the pulled chicken with Beer-B-Q sauce. Her sauce was typically mild, but the Chipotle was surprisingly spicy, the way I like it. The Cajun potatoes were well done with salt, Cajun seasoning, and sautéed for a crusty sear. Excellent! We both had the small cucumber/tomato side salad, and the cilantro dressing was first rate. If anything I wished for, it was that there was more of it. Decor is chic with a modern flair. I like it. Parking is plentiful. If I ever stop by the area again...

Popped in to this cozy BBQ joint mid-roadtrip, just hoping for a cold beer and a warm meal. While I know Quebec is known for its poutine and ribs, I didn’t expect such a quaint, locally-owned spot to boast some of the best brisket north of Texas alongside fall-off-the-bone ribs with a killer homemade sauce.

Considering the reasonable price and especially lack of nearby alternatives, Colosse punches way above its weight. The staff are all absolute sweethearts and the microbrews are top notch! Highly recommended if you find yourself...
