Service was friendly and heartfelt "no body goes un hungry here!" Good communication in the kitchen, and seemed happening with people calling to place orders for pick-up. Everyone calling for a legendary burger apparently is the go to for pick-up orders, from the time I was there; must have been 5 or 6 calls for food pick-up.

Hours Open were different then google had posted: 1030am - 130pm and 4pm - 630pm Tuesday to Saturday. Clean bathrooms!

I was traveling through on a Thursday, and experienced a friendly culture reminder of Elgin's heritage along with an amazing dining room feel. Even during these days with so much going on in the world, it was nice to feel the comfort of home being at the Burning Bale in Elgin.

I had the Chicken and Cheese Taco's with the soup of the day, and enjoyed viewing the pictures of what Elgin once was, and felt the warmth of what it still is in the hearts of the folks that live there. The price was cheep for the quantity of food, and flavour that makes you think you've been introduced to the heart of Elgin.

You'll have to be your own judge, but even passing through - it was well worth the open hearted welcoming...

We heard so many great things about the food in this place and everytime I saw pictures of the food my mouth would start salivating. I had the steak and shrimp with a Cesar salad. That was the best steak I've had in a long while so tender I could have probably cut it with a butter knife. When it got to my mouth it felt like it was melting away with every chew. Each shrimp was devoured so quickly I can't really tell you much about them as I just wanted to get back to that steak.

My wife had the newfie poutine she really enjoyed the fish it was nice and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside she also enjoyed the hand cut French fries smothered with gravy and topped with mozzarella cheese curds.

It was well worth the 3 hour drive from Transcona through a small snow storm to experience this amazing food. If you have the time take a moment to have a chat with the friendly cook/owner you will be glad you did.

Looking for an “end of summer” destination with good food. The Burning Bale has been on my list for some time. The sun was shining and the birds were singing! Game on! Pick up a friend for the trip from Winnipeg to Elgin. The reviews were instantly tallied: This restaurant…is a winner! En route I called ahead to confirm they are open. YES. A beautiful warm day warranted a few little stops along the way - putting our arrival behind the time I indicated we would arrive. Almost there & I get a return call - checking for our eta. Thank You Chef Germain!!! I am very appreciative for your willingness to delay your closing! It was sooooo worth the drive! Food - beyond my expectations! Brisket Kaiser/fries…perfection! My friend had the cast iron burger/fries - mmm mmm good!!! Staff - super kind. Owner - very friendly and generous with delicious food! Burning Bale, you haven’t seen the last of me!!! Thank...
