We visited on our 10th anniversary. The service was excellent; Karlie, our waitress, was attentive, friendly, and had superb recommendations. We sat out on the deck overlooking Pyramid Lake; the quiet subalpine atmosphere was lightly accompanied by a soft jazz from the restaurant, all of which enhanced the whole dining experience.
As for the food itself, the chef has outdone himself. We had the Humboldt squid as a starter; every flavour on the plate worked together to elevate the squid to greater heights. The cocktails were expertly designed, neither too weak nor too stiff for an opening beverage. My main course (the duck) arrived, and it was an absolute delight; perhaps the finest duck breast I have ever had. My wife enjoyed the mushrooms and buckwheat, describing it as "delightful." My wine pairing, based upon Karlie's recommendation, worked brilliantly with the duck. We finished off the meal with two liquid desserts, both of which were, again, tailored and balanced to perfection.
From the service, through atmosphere, and the food, every aspect of our meal at Aalto was a joy to experience. I highly recommend the restaurant to anyone who wishes to partake in a fine dining experience by the silent grandeur of...
Read moreThis was my first time in Jasper and this restaurant really took it to the next level. We first went there for brunch in the morning and it is the most gorgeous setting. There are these huge windows and you get to sip your tea and enjoy the best house-made bacon you've ever tasted. Brunch was delicious, quick to the table and hit all the right spots. Austin made sure we were well attended to. 10 out of 10. lt was so good we came back for dinner. For dinner we had the pretzels, the scallops, the brussel sprouts, tartar, different cocktails and a dessert so amazing we got a second one to go! Our super sweet server Charlie helped point us in the right direction with our snacks with excellent pairings!! All of it tantalize the taste buds and intrigued the senses. Staff is beyond friendly and very informative. We were lucky enough to have chef Andrew stop by for a quick hello and a little chocolate treat at the end. Views are to die for you. Need to check this place out. I couldn't have dreamed up a better night.
I attached a picture of the night... The food was too good not to eat before thinking of a camera. You just have...
Read moreThis review is a combined review experience as we had dinner when we arrived and breakfast when we left. I'll start with the positives; exceptional staff that if friendly and knowledgeable about allergies. The cleanliness and layout of the restaurant are very nice, even better when you get a window seat. The breakfasts portion to price ratio was almost spot on, the French toast didn't leave me hungry. Now for the negatives; dinner as a whole was extremely over priced for small portions and mediocre at best food. I had the steak and my partner had the chicken, steak was full of gristle and the chicken was on the verge of bland (we ended up going into town to eat afterwards). As I mentioned earlier we so had breakfast, french toast was a positive while the eggs benny was extremely bland. The hollandaise just tasted like thick yolks, not creamy or tangy whatsoever. The hashbrowns were the best part of that meal. Overall was not satisfied with our dining experience here. My advice would be to go somewhere for dinner and if you do have breakfast be aware the food might not be flavorful but at least the price and portions will...
